💙 Exciting News from Braiding With A Twist, Inc. 💙

We are proud to announce that our Board of Directors has officially approved and adopted Barbering With A Twist™ as a program initiative of Braiding With A Twist, Inc.

Barbering With A Twist™ was created to help prepare teens for life, purpose, and possibility through mentorship, emotional wellness, leadership development, workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and hands-on barbering and grooming exposure.

This program is being developed with intention and care to provide young people with positive role models, practical life skills, career awareness, and safe spaces where they can grow with confidence and purpose.

As we move into this next phase, we will be seeking community partners, licensed barbers, mentors, funding opportunities, and supporters who believe in investing in our youth.

We are also excited to welcome Yashira as the new Board Chair of Braiding With A Twist, Inc. Her leadership will help guide our organization as we continue expanding our impact and creating opportunities for youth.

Prevention begins with presence, and every young person deserves to be seen, valued, guided, and prepared for purpose.

Our hearts are heavy for the family of Gaige Santos-Brown, the Childs Park community, and every young person impacted by this tragedy.

At Braiding With A Twist, Inc., we believe moments like this remind us how deeply our youth need safe spaces, mentorship, leadership development, emotional support, and opportunities that help them see purpose beyond survival.

This issue is deeply personal to our founder, who lost her 16-year-old brother to gun violence in the streets of St. Petersburg in 2001. That loss is one of many reasons Braiding With A Twist believes mentorship, emotional wellness, leadership development, and safe spaces for youth are critical.

We are committed to continuing the work of creating environments where teens feel seen, valued, heard, and guided.

This is bigger than programs.

It is about community, consistency, and connection.

We invite community leaders, mentors, schools, barbers, stylists, organizations, churches, fathers, mothers, and advocates to come together to support our youth before another life is lost.

Help Us Reach Our $5,000 Goal

Braiding With A Twist currently has 290+ teens on our waiting list. We are raising $5,000 through our Givebutter campaign to support program supplies, classroom materials, technology, and staff support for our upcoming sessions.

Every donation helps us create opportunities for the next generation.
