Happy Holiday from all of us at ZiRu Dance!

Taking time to reflect on the past year, we look back at our return to in-person shows, our work with OneLife in San Carlos, and our time spent creating new work in the studio. We are excited about the year to come and our continued growth as a company. None of this would have been possible without YOU, our supporters and community.

One of the major goals we have in 2023 is to book a multi-city tour across the United States to show our most recent work, VANTAGE. VANTAGE addresses xenophobia, racism, and promotes advocacy through dance. We believe in the need to live in a thriving multi-racial, multi-cultural society. Through showcasing VANTAGE and hosting panel discussions we aim to create a platform to learn about, talk about, and problem solve the issues we see on a daily basis and the people and organizations that combat these issues and work hard to make this multi-racial community thrive.

We are thrilled to announce our 2022 Ascent Campaign, championing mental health support and BIPOC stories for our local community and beyond. This year we are raising support to continue to provide free mental health movement classes to SF and South Bay title-1 schools in need. In addition, we are continuing to share VANTAGE and social justice panels across the country and on to Twainwan this Summer! ZiRu will also produce "Pathways to Recovery" a piece addressing PTSD fall of 2023.

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we want to be sure to celebrate some of the amazing Hispanic movers who have influenced the world. One of which is Argentinian-American Dancer, Choreographer and Director, Graciela Daniele. Daniele began her training in ballet companies in Argentina and Paris then moved to New York City and studied with Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, and began working with iconic artists Bob Fosse, Agnes De Mille, and eventually mentored by Michael Bennett. Daniele has since directed and choreographed for film, developed works for Ballet Hispanico and several Broadway shows including choreography for Ragtime in which she received a Tony nomination, and Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life, which she also directed. Graciela was most recently awarded the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement. Join us in learning about and celebrating movers of Hispanic Heritage who have changed the game for future generations of dancers and artists.

We are thrilled to announce our Summer of Healing Campaign. We invite you to participate in a summer of healing with our Move and Release classes and Works in Progress Showing of Pathways to Recovery.

All donations will support the creation of Pathways to Recovery- a work on the study of PTSD and the healing pathways to recovery. Your support will also fund Move & Release a FREE movement therapy class for anyone who has experienced trauma facilitated by One Life Counseling and ZiRu Dance.
