This honor reflects the creativity, commitment, and care of the many nonprofit organizations, educators, artists, community leaders, and neighbors whose work makes our own possible.

Thank you to Philanthropy Massachusetts for this recognition and to our partners for all you do to improve quality of life in Pittsfield and throughout the Berkshires. We’re proud to share this honor with you!

What a first year for the Finish Line Fund!

Launched in partnership with the Josh Billings RunAground , the inaugural Finish Line Fund brought a new way for race participants to support the Berkshire nonprofits they care about most.

Together, 11 teams raised more than $31,000 for local nonprofits, with support from hundreds of donors near and far.

From teammates rallying their networks to nonprofit staff taking on the race themselves, the Finish Line Fund showed what can happen when community, competition, and giving come together.

Special shoutout to Pediatric Development Center who modeled the spirit of this initiative wonderfully. PDC staff and supporters not only took on the Josh Billings, but rallied their community to raise more than $10,000 for PDC. Their effort was a great example of how the race can become a platform for teams to share an organization’s story, engage new supporters, and generate meaningful support.

A huge thank you to every team, donor, nonprofit, volunteer, and supporter who helped make year one such a success.

See you in 2027 for the 50th Josh Billings RunAground!

We’re honored to share that we have been recognized by Philanthropy Massachusetts with a 2026 LEAP Award!

The LEAP Awards recognize work across four pillars - Learn, Engage, Act, and Partner - that strengthens philanthropy and communities across Massachusetts.

Mill Town Foundation was recognized in the Act category for our action-oriented, place-based approach to philanthropy, bringing together partnerships and investments across arts and culture, education, outdoor recreation, wellness, leadership development, and community development.

This honor reflects the work of so many partners, organizations, community leaders, artists, educators, and residents who are committed to making Pittsfield and the Berkshires stronger places to live, work, and play.

We’re grateful to Philanthropy Massachusetts for this recognition and proud to be part of a statewide philanthropic community working to create lasting community impact.

We look forward to celebrating alongside this year’s fellow honorees at Philanthropy Massachusetts’ 57th Annual Conference on September 29 in Boston.

Thank you to everyone who continues to partner with us in this work.

The countdown to the Josh Billings is on - and racers are already making an incredible impact across the Berkshires.

Through the Finish Line Fund, participating teams have raised more than $19,000 for Berkshire-based nonprofits, turning race-day participation into direct support for organizations serving our community.

To help teams finish strong, Mill Town Foundation will contribute an additional $500 to the nonprofit represented by each of the five teams with the most individual donors. It’s not about who raises the most money - it’s about bringing more people into the effort. Every donor counts, and every contribution helps support a local organization.

Join us at the finish line at Tanglewood on Sunday, September 20!

We’re one month away from race day!

On September 20th, Josh Billings racers will take on one of the Berkshires’ most iconic events - and this year, participants can race for something bigger with the Finish Line Fund.

Through the Finish Line Fund, a new initiative from Mill Town Foundation and the Josh Billings, racers can create a fundraising page on PledgeReg.com, choose a Berkshire-based nonprofit that matters to them, and invite friends, family, and colleagues to support their race.

Every dollar raised goes directly to the organization you select - turning your journey to the finish line into an even greater investment in our community.
And we’re already off to a great start - more than $4,500 has been raised so far! Learn more about the teams and nonprofits being supported at: www.pledgereg.com/the-great-josh-billings-runaground

Some moments in life feel truly extraordinary. Earlier this month, we were lucky to experience one of those moments.

Presented as part of Yo-Yo Ma’s “We the People” week at Tanglewood, the Sunrise Gathering at the summit of Bousquet Mountain brought music, spoken word, visual art, nature, and community together in an unforgettable shared experience overlooking Pittsfield and the Berkshires.

We are deeply grateful to the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood, Bousquet Mountain, the participating artists and musicians, the volunteers who helped make the morning possible, and everyone who joined us at the summit.

Above all, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Yo-Yo Ma, whose generosity, artistry, and vision created the opportunity for our community to share such a meaningful and memorable morning together.

Thank you.

Congratulations to the Berkshire Museum on reopening its doors today!

Following an extensive renovation, the museum begins an exciting new chapter with a reimagined first floor that brings art, science, natural history, and local history together in new and engaging ways.

At the center of the renovation is the newly rebuilt Feigenbaum Aquarium which is nearly twice the size of the previous space. Visitors can also explore an immersive habitat room, new natural history displays, replica dinosaur skeletons, and refreshed galleries featuring more of the museum’s 40,000-object collection.

Mill Town Foundation is especially proud to support Berkshire Museum’s participation in the Card to Culture program, helping ensure that cost is not a barrier to educational and cultural experiences. Through the program, EBT/SNAP and WIC cardholders receive free admission for two adults and up to four children.

We congratulate the Berkshire Museum staff, board, supporters, and community partners who helped bring this significant transformation to life. We look forward to seeing the museum welcome residents and visitors back into this important Pittsfield institution.

The museum will also host a free Community Reopening Celebration from 10:00 AM–5:00 PM on Saturday, August 8.

Flying Cloud Institute and Focus Is Our Children are partnering to launch a summer camp that will bring free, hands-on science, art, and engineering experiences to local youth.

Building on the legacy and trust of a beloved Westside summer program, this initiative will expand access to engaging summer care and high-quality learning opportunities, strengthen partnerships with families, schools, and community organizations, and help young people build confidence, creativity, and skills for the future.

Mill Town Foundation is proud to support this work to provide meaningful summer experiences for Pittsfield youth while honoring local leadership and preserving a valued community resource.
