On Wednesday, July 8th at 6 pm on the front steps of the Vermont State House, the Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State will read the Declaration of Independence aloud—in tandem with all 49 other states as well as all territories and the District of Columbia. Readers nationwide will read together at the exact same moment on the very day when 250 years ago the Declaration was proclaimed throughout the colonies. Vermont’s 250th Commission chair Laura Trieschmann will facilitate the reading with brief comments promptly at 6 pm.
