Our Legion family stands together

Our family created this team to support our mom, Donna, after her recent diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

This past Friday, over 50 organizations came together for one purpose: serving homeless veterans.

American Legion Post 321 packed, sorted, and handed out toiletries, clothes, fresh underwear, and resource packets with names and contact info. Just as important, we sat down and had real conversations with the most vulnerable veterans in our county. Those are the ones we know about. Sadly, there are likely more still out there.

This is possibly the most motivating day of the year for me. It's direct. You get to look a veteran in the eyes and remind them they are not forgotten.

That's what we do. Whether it's veterans who are struggling or those who never came home, we work to make sure the community for veterans and their families endures. Not with robust marketing teams or millions of dollars in the bank, but with veterans serving veterans and leaving no one behind.

Special thanks to Dan McKay for his leadership in organizing and really helping get this program to the finish line this year.

Our American Legion Department of North Carolina Commander Joe Reale was on site as well handing out supplies and spreading the word of all the great things The Legion has to offer the Veteran Community.

Thank you to every organization and volunteer who showed up.

What is American Legion Department of North Carolina Commander Joesph Reale doing when he isn’t traveling all over the state?
