We are so excited to have been called back as a qualifying team again this year, putting us in the top 3 overall & invited to present our proposal in-person at the NECA annual convention next month!!🔥🤩

We have a lot of preparation to do, but we’re also honored to represent Wayne State’s Construction Management program for the second year in a row at this event!👏🏻

Working from the office of our partnering contractor has been a great opportunity this year!⁣
⁣
The 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 is better, of course, but we also have a more 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 experience overall!⁣
⁣
Seeing materials and equipment first-hand has definitely been helpful in our efforts and understanding of the project!⁣
⁣
As always, extra thanks to Superior Electric in Troy, MI for opening their doors to us every weekend and helping us out along the way!

Sarah Fleshner landed an internship in 2017 with a large general contractor, was subsequently hired full time and has been there ever since. The professional experience she has gained in her young career as a concrete estimator, combined with lessons learned in the classroom, has given her a more well-rounded understanding of how to deliver a successful construction project. Sarah, who serves as treasurer of the Wayne State University NECA Student Chapter, and others coming into the industry through the construction management program at Wayne State bring a unique perspective that allows them to make an immediate positive impact.

Taylor Dixon's interest in the construction industry was sparked by the inspiration of world-renowned architect and designer Frank Gehry. Undeterred by the fact that women only comprise 10 percent of the U.S. construction workforce, she completed a successful internship with Michigan Paving & Materials Company, and has set her sights on becoming a project manager with a company that allows her to travel internationally. According to Taylor, "Wayne State University has given me the opportunity to build confidence in pursuing a leadership role and networking with others."
