Kansas Storytelling

Kansas Storytelling The Kansas Storytelling Festival takes place annually in Downs Kansas the fourth weekend of April. Be prepared for laughs. Be prepared for fun.

The festival offers small town hospitality with world class storytelling talent. The 27th annual Kansas Storytelling Festival will be September 17-18, 2021, Downs, Ks. After canceling the 2020 Festival and postponing this spring’s festival, you won't want to miss a single story in this celebration of stories! Tim Lowry, the Sweet Tea Commentator, will entertain in Southern gentleman’s style with r

egional folktales, historical facts, and personal narratives. Dan Keding returns to Kansas with tales and ballads from around the world, accompanied by guitar, banjo, and even spoons! Adam Booth’s original stories blend traditional mountain folklore, music, and an awareness of contemporary Appalachia. New voices to the Kansas Festival stage are Regi Carpenter and Anne Rutherford. Regi’s stories uplift people as they are reminded of the tremendous impact each individual has within their circle, and Anne delights audiences with funny, touching performances that include tales of personal adventure, folklore, and prize-winning lies. The Festival’s annual attractions of Kansas Legends, a Tall Tale Contest with a traveling trophy, and Young Storytellers will be on stage too. These artists will be entertaining the audiences all weekend in an atmosphere of hometown hospitality. But most importantly, come and be a part of it all. We'll have the welcome mat out.
