The Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium (DARC) is a multi-government entity composed of municipalities in the Downingtown Area School District. We mail our brochure, listing our activities, four times a year. You can look for the brochure during mid-March, mid-May, mid-August and mid-December. Our activities are broken down into Adult Programs, Youth Programs, Workshops, Computer, On-Line Courses, Leagues, and Trips. During the summer months we also offer a Playground Program, Full-Day Day Camp, two Full Day Teen Camps and weeklong sports, science, nature and theater camps. We also sell discounted ski lift tickets, amusement park tickets and movie tickets. We try to offer a wide variety of courses each and every brochure.

DARC has openings for local, certified fitness instructors to teach both daytime and evening classes in the Downingtown area.

We focus our classes on Strength Training, Yoga, Cardio Fitness, Barre and Pilates, with specific classes for all ages.
We are looking to expand our offerings with Drum Fitness, Strength & Resistance, Mind-Boy & Flexibility, as well as additional Senior fitness classes.

As the Martial Arts Studio is a traditional martial arts dojo, Little Lions uses a 10-belt level system to encourage goal setting... track improvement... and celebrate achievements. After School Drawing Clubs with Young Rembrandts:

Back-to-school season is bursting with creativity at YR! During this session, students will explore a fascinating world of characters, patterns, texture and vibrant color. Appetites don’t stand a chance against the realistic Pizza drawing our students will create as they focus on proportion, detail, and shading techniques.

Our adorable Baby Sloth will help students practice expression and character design, while our art history portrait of Hiawatha introduces cultural appreciation and portrait composition just in time to celebrate the fall season. Each lesson blends imagination with strong art fundamentals.

The best thing to do when School’s Out is to join Abrakadoodle for a day of Art!

Our Art Camp includes art lessons, games, crafts, music, and special activities for children ages 5-12.

Abrakadoodle art program offers a multi-media art program that is both educational and fun. Our curriculum is focused on the elements of art, art techniques, styles, art history and the sequential development of skills. Students create artwork inspired by famous artists, art styles and world cultures while they celebrate their creativity and uniqueness.

Our lessons use a variety of safe non-toxic art materials that bring an engaging multi-arts experience for students!

Each art class is designed to help increase creativity and problem solving skills in young children through fun art activities.

In our "Mommy and Me" Art Class, your child will explore a variety of art materials, experience new textures, improve fine motor skills, and enjoy being creative in a group setting.

Each lesson is developed to expose the children to an element of art, new art material, and basic art skills, all while having fun.

"Mommy and Me" classes are for one adult and child, ages 18 months to 4 years. Any adult...Mom, Dad, Grandma, Granddad, Aunt, Uncle, Friend, etc may join the child.

These classes are 45 minutes long. Please do not bring any snacks, drinks are welcome. One adult must accompany the child and participate along side the child.

*Classes are small. Limit of 5 students and 5 adults*

Introduction to Painting (Beginner)
with Chrysalis Art Center

Mondays 6-8pm, Ages 12+

This class is an introduction to painting for beginners - we will cover how to use the medium, tools, painting techniques, basic color theory, and painting from life. The latter half of the class will consist of a still life study to put all we have learned into practice. There will be demonstrations and practical work time in each class

Students will have the opportunity to explore many painting media, but may concentrate on one medium such as Oils, Acrylics, Watercolors, Ink, Gouache or tempera

Fridays: Teen Art Workshop: Any two hours 4-8pm
