As promised, we have more updates from our incredible youth volunteers and mental health advocates! This update comes from Emma in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania! Many thanks to Emma, Emery, and the students who helped raise $500 for mental health awareness. We look forward to a continued collaboration in the fall. And a special shout out to the school administrators for prioritizing teen mental health!
From Emma: “This past May, Canon-McMillan Middle School’s Student Government held a fundraiser in partnership with Let’s Bake the World a Better Place. As Student Government President, Emma W. helped organize and lead a “Pie in the Face” event to raise money and awareness for mental health initiatives. Students were able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to pie a teacher or Student Government officer, and it was amazing to see so many people come together to support such an important cause. With the help of Vice President Emery A., Student Government advisors Ms. Bardella and Mrs. Dennick, Sophie from Let’s Bake the World a Better Place, and the many students who participated, the fundraiser was a tremendous success, raising $500 to support mental health awareness. Sophie also generously donated mental health care package kits that Student Government members will assemble next school year! These kits will be available in guidance offices throughout the district for students who may benefit from them. This fundraiser demonstrated the power of our school community coming together to make a positive impact. We can’t thank all the Canon McMillan students who participated in this fundraiser enough, and we were so glad to partner with an organization that does such admirable work!”
