On April 10, 2010, I founded Catalina’s Gift. As a way for me to process Catalina’s Leukemia diagnosis. There were so many unknowns for us in the beginning that I wanted to help other families who were starting the same journey with their own children. What started as snacks in her infusion clinic, grew to snacks at three clinics, toy drives at Christmas, meals at Thanksgiving, Easter baskets at Easter and on and on! Over the years it just continued to grow. Eventually Catalina was out of treatment but we continued helping those families who needed it the most.
Today, it is with a heavy heart that I will be closing the organization. We have relocated our family to Texas and it would be impossible for me to operate from out of state. Also, it has been very hard to keep it going since Covid. Donations have declined in the past years.
Thank you everyone who has over the years helped us fulfill our mission! Showed up to serve dinner at Thanksgiving, donated to the toy drives, donated monetarily, helped fill gift bags, filled in to deliver when I couldn’t and helped in so many other ways!
A very big thank you to all the families that welcomed me into their homes and allowed me to heal and process by helping them. Especially for all the notes and emails sent to express your gratitude! No thanks necessary, you helped me!
Catalina is now 18 and just graduated high school. She is healthy and thriving! Always a clean bill of health at all her check ups!
We will always pray for you and hope for healthy outcomes!
