“The more Eucharist we receive, the more we will become like Jesus, so that on earth we will have a foretaste of heaven.”

Today the Church celebrates St. Carlo Acutis, whose extraordinary devotion to the Eucharist continues to inspire Catholics around the world.

For Carlo, the Eucharist was not simply a devotion, but the center of his spiritual life. From a young age, he attended daily Mass, spent time in Eucharistic Adoration, and sought to help others recognize the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

His love for the Eucharist also inspired him to create an online exhibition documenting Eucharistic miracles from around the world, using his knowledge of technology to bring others closer to Christ.

Carlo understood that receiving the Eucharist is meant to transform us. The more closely we unite ourselves to Christ, the more our lives should reflect His love.

On his feast day, may we be inspired to approach the Eucharist with greater faith and devotion, remembering that holiness begins with our relationship with Christ.

Last week, MTF had the pleasure of welcoming Msgr. Carlos Encina Commentz, one of our authors.

The author of works such as “How to Succeed in Your Marriage” and “A Good Confessor,” Msgr. Encina made a brief visit to the U.S., spending Friday with our team. During his visit, he spoke about his work at the Apostolic Penitentiary in Rome, an institution of the Holy See that he describes as a “tribunal of mercy,” which seeks to resolve and absolve.

While at MTF, he learned more about our mission and saw our work firsthand. He blessed our offices, joined the staff in praying the noontime Angelus, and was our honored guest for lunch.

He also visited Mundelein Seminary, where he toured the seminary and spoke with seminarians, including alumni of The Rome Experience. He shared more about his work at the Apostolic Penitentiary and offered practical advice for their future priestly ministry.

We are grateful for Msgr. Encina’s visit and are proud to publish authors whose work contributes to the life and mission of the Church.

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

St. Francis left the wealth of his family to follow Christ in poverty. His desire to live the Gospel faithfully drew others to him, and eventually gave rise to the Franciscan Order.

His devotion to Christ marked him so profoundly that, near the end of his life, he received the stigmata—the wounds of Christ’s Passion. He died in 1226 and was canonized just two years later.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
