Nine choirs in 8 locations, including Good Memories, a choir for adults with memory loss & their care partners. Choir is the Chicago area's largest choral-music organization for older adults. Currently, during the pandemic when we are staying safe by singing online, Sounds Good serves more than 250 singers in online rehearsals, virtual choirs,"coffee chats" for social time, and enrichment classes
in vocal technique and musicianship. Sounds Good Choir (SGC) offers two primary program areas:
(1) the Sounds Good Choir, a non-auditioned ensemble for adults 55 "and better." Sounds Good generally sings challenging and fun four-part (SATB) repertoire with piano. Rehearsals are held during the weekday. There is no audition. (2) the Good Memories Choir for people with early-stage memory loss, their care partners, and singing volunteers. Good Memories typically sings SAB or 3-part mixed arrangements of mostly familiar and beloved melodies. This program includes a new offering, the the online Good Memories Sing-Along Cafe, which is purely a sing-along and does not involve using sheet music. Sounds Good's professional music staff is led by the co-founders -- artistic director/CEO Jonathan Miller, a veteran professional singer/conductor and choral entrepreneur, and Sandy Siegel Miller, director of the Good Memories program. The conductors and pianists on SCG's music staff are specialists in the aging voice. These master teachers provide instruction in vocal technique and breathing as well as overall musicianship and expressiveness. See our complete staff roster at www.soundsgoodchoir/staff-and-board/
