🚨🆘 One of our own needs our help! 🆘🚨

Tragically, Jaime Wills Csorba and her family lost their home to a fire very early this morning. Fortunately, all four family members are safe and uninjured, but their home is uninhabitable. Mrs. Csorba is an amazing resource who encourages our Prairieview students to love reading and creates a safe space for them in her library.

Please show her and her family the love she has shown our Center Cass family throughout the years and consider donating. We are with you, Csorba family! 💚💛💚💛

Update: Pencils have been donated to an out-of-state public school in order to avoid any controversy or unfounded allegations of political activity.

The Ge**er proposal will next be presented to Darien’s Municipal Services Committee (made up of three aldermen) who will vote on a recommendation to make the City Council about the project.

**The meeting date was changed because Ge**er did not provide the City with supplemental information in time for the original date.

🚨 Another potential development in our community is in the works. 🚨

🚨 The old CVS on Lemont Rd and Plainfield Rd/83rd St has a public hearing related to a development project on Oct. 4 at 7 pm. 🚨

▪️There are a handful of higher, better, and more appropriate uses for this property.

▪️ Retail, mixed-use, restaurant, or shopping would all better serve this community than an auto body shop.

▪️ Let's not settle for the first proposal to come to this property.

We deserve better.

As the summer is quickly coming to a close, we at Save 66 are excited to embark on a new school year. To further support our amazing D66 educators and staff, we are collecting wish list information to include a directory that will be available to families, friends, community members, and donors to enable them to contribute directly to our classrooms, workspaces, and students throughout the school year. 📚🖊️✏️

🚨📣WOODRIDGE WAREHOUSE MEETING 6/15 AT 7 PM 📣🚨

The Village of Woodridge will vote on Thursday, June 15th on the proposed 217,000 sq ft warehouse on Lemont Rd. Please plan on attending the meeting to show and voice your opposition. Should you choose to speak, you will have 3 minutes to address the Village Council.

Major reasons we do not want this development:

❌High volume, 33-truck dock
❌No restricted hours of operation (permitted to run 24/7)
❌Increased traffic, noise and pollution (keep in mind that Lemont Rd. includes District 66 bus routes)
❌Safety concerns for students who need to cross Lemont Rd. to get to and from District 66 schools
❌A lot of speculation and unanswered questions, including what tenant may occupy the premises

🚨URGENT CALL TO ACTION🚨

📌As some of you may be aware, a developer is trying to get approval from the Village of Woodridge to build a trucking warehouse on Lemont Road not far from the intersection at Plainfield Road. This development is expected to have a negative impact on the surrounding area including, among other concerns, increased traffic and noise pollution at nearly all hours of the day. This project is not good for CCSD66 residents or the safety of our students.

📌Our Board of Education opposes the development and has directed Superintendent Wise to communicate this position to the Village. (Approved at the May 10 BOE meeting).

📌And here is where we need your help!

For those of you who are interested in more information about the 217,000sq ft warehouse proposed for Lemont Rd in Woodridge, between 75th and 83rd St., the minutes from the Plan Commission are on the Village website. Go to woodridgeil.gov and click on My Government. Then click on Plan Commission and Most Recent Agenda. Make sure the tab in the left hand corner says Plan Commission. Click on the May 1st agenda packet and the minutes and comments from the April 17th meeting will be there.

Of special interest, the developers now say they want the warehouse to run overnight. With 33 truck dock doors and 277 parking spaces, this will bring an immense amount of traffic to our area. They also say there is a need for this type of development. If this runs at full capacity, or is some type of fulfillment center, we will see a huge increase in traffic, 7 days a week, 24/7. This is not the place for such a warehouse.

💛Hello everyone! 💚

Liz here with an important update for those wondering about the future of Save Center Cass School District 66. Fortunately, our journey is coming to an end very soon.

I have finished reconciling the books for Save 66 and all records have been provided to a tax preparer. Once we pay applicable sales taxes and associated fees, as well as file the appropriate returns, I will be filing final paperwork with the Illinois State Board of Elections to cease our operations. At that time, as promised, any remaining funds in our account will be transferred to TEAM 66 to be used to benefit our students and teachers.

Thank you for coming along on this challenging but rewarding journey with us.
