We welcomed 22 members last evening to the April meeting of 100 Women Who Care at the Edwardsburg American Legion.

Presenters included Wakelee Bible Church Children's Ministry Project and Cass County School Supply Spectacular sponsored by United Way of Southwest Michigan.

Wakelee Bible Church Children's Ministry - Karen Lehman stated the focus is the necessary nursery area of the church to update a safe environment for children. With an influx of young families, they currently have seven toddlers and five newborns during a Sunday morning worship. Two of the babies were born this winter! Their attempt to provide an appropriate place for the children is essential. They have begun the project and continue to provide fund- raising for completion.

School Supply Backpacks - new school supply backpacks have been provided for 18 previous years in Cass County by United Way of Southwest Michigan. Children in PreK thru 12th grade will be served by this project. In 2025 there wert 850 students throughout the county who were supported with essential items with grade appropriate supplies. A major business funder was lost to assist in the average cost of $30.00 - $32.00 for each student. Registration online begins in June. Students must be present with a parent or guardian at distribution. Statistics show 41% of working families in our communities fall below the basic cost of living in the county and cannot afford their basic needs.

We had a good meeting at Wounded Minnow last night! Thank you to those who came in during the bad weather!
We had 3 presentations. 1) saint francis outreach . Their mission is to to do Christ’s work by improving lives of families and individuals in our community. Presented by Donna Dodd and Luann Scott

Next up was Marcellus Community Food Pantry. You may recall we helped them in 2023 prior to their move. They are open on Wednesdays. I was mesmerized by their program so I failed to write down all the info(forgive me) but they feed a lot of people - women ,kids, vets every week.

And the last was Fitch Camp presented by me. What I was light on info ((could have used your help Ordeana!!) 🙂 I was very supportive.
The winner of the evening was the Marcellus food Pantry! Congratulations!

We collected $1309.

Now the bad news:
This is the last quarter of our match from the foundation. They are calling it quits. We were very lucky to have received their help all these years. They will be missed.

This was the last meeting I will be leading the group. My business has grown to the point that I can no longer set aside time for the group. It bothers me tremendously but I must do it. If you have anyone you know that would like to take it on- one meeting a quarter and you have a few days surrounding the meeting that you have work to do. Please send them my way.

Many of us have been extremely upset by the group doing Monday meetings to decide which way they want to vote- as a group. Many times it takes any decision out of the hands of individuals. This must stop. Do what you can to make sure it does.

Thank you all for your participation over the years! I will still be around- just in a limited capacity!

Hello Ladies!
We had a great meeting last night! It was nice to see multiple charities in the house again!
Our first presentation was from Sarah Ayers on flyover art. The mission of flyover art is to work locally and relationally to develop creative strategies for increased community connection talent retention, diverse representation and equitable participation in cultural spaces.

Our 2nd presentation was from LuAnn Scott and Donna Dodd from St Francis Outreach. They fill backpacks with food every week of the school year, they keep a food pantry, and help the community in many ways!

And finally, Karen Leighman talked with is about Waller church. They have been growing their membership recently and need some help in fixing and cleaning up a portion of the church to help with kids. They are excited to have children at the church!

The vote was very close- one vote difference! The winner was Flyover Art!!!
