Miss Dowagiac Scholarship Pageant

Miss Dowagiac Scholarship Pageant The Miss Dowagiac Scholarship Pageant, established in 1930, serves to mentor young women in communication skills and community service opportunities.

The Miss Dowagiac Scholarship Pageant celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Anniversary this year, as we crowned our 75th Queen. As a long standing tradition, pageant officials in 2000 were pleased to take the program to new heights, as scholarships were awarded for the first time to that year's Queen, and to the first and second runners-up. During the past 14 years, $39,150 in scholarships were presente

d. This year's event awarded $6000 in scholarship money. Miss Dowagiac serves as an unofficial goodwill ambassador for her community and school. During her year-long reign, today's queen makes 20-25 public appearances, as she volunteers at events hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, and by other non-profit and school groups.

Miss Dowagiac and Court had the privilege of visiting our State Capitol, where they toured the building and had the pleasure of meeting with Brad Paquette - State Representative.
It was especially meaningful to have each member of our Court recognized with an official State of Michigan Special Tribute.

Huge thank you to Brad and his staff for their kindness and hospitality—it made the day even more special.
This experience left us all eager to continue learning more about our amazing state. đź‘‘

What an incredible day for Haley’s Meals & Heels Food Drive! 👠👑

We are so thankful for the overwhelming support from everyone who donated—your generosity truly makes a difference in our community. A very special thank you to St. Francis Outreach Food Pantry for partnering with Haley on this meaningful event.

It was extra special that the day coincided with the Spring Open House in downtown Dowagiac. Miss Dowagiac and Court had a wonderful time participating as live mannequins in a few local businesses this afternoon.

Thank you to Cottage Gallery, The Marshall Shoppe, and The Banana Tree Café for inviting our court to be part of the fun! 🌸

Today was such a meaningful day at Dowagiac Middle School. đź’™

Miss Dowagiac and Court had the opportunity to visit and speak with students about su***de prevention, reminding them that they are never alone and that their voices matter. We wanted to be a listening ear for anyone who needed it.

Mya courageously shared her own struggles from her middle school years, emphasizing how important it is to know just how loved and valued you truly are. Her honesty made a powerful impact.

We are so grateful for the chance to connect, support, and have open conversations about such an important topic.
Thank you, Dowagiac Middle School, for giving us the platform to speak and make a difference. 💙👑

✨ Reminder: Haley Henry is hosting a food drive this Saturday from 10 AM–2 PM at the Snow Building. ✨

While you’re out, be sure to stop by downtown and check out the court participating in the Spring open house—they’ll be featured in store windows as live mannequins! 🌸🛍️

We’ve had a few people ask about donation options for Haley’s Meals & Heels event on April 25th—and we’re happy to share that we will be accepting both cash and check!

Checks can be made payable to Saint Francis Outreach with “food pantry” in the memo line. We will also have a donation jar available at the event, with all proceeds going directly to the Saint Francis food pantry right here in our community.

At this time, we are not able to accept PayPal or Venmo donations.

Thank you for all the support and excitement surrounding Haley’s event—we can’t wait to come together and give back! 💛

This Friday, Miss Dowagiac and Court will be visiting the middle school to share encouragement, connection, and an important reminder: every student deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued.

Middle school can bring big feelings and challenges, but these young leaders are passionate about making sure students know their worth—no matter what they may be going through.

Miss Dowagiac, Mya Vazquez, has already shared her heart on this message during the pageant, where she spoke about the importance of knowing your value. Now, she is continuing that mission—making sure every middle schooler understands their life has purpose and meaning.
We’re looking forward to a day filled with positivity, inspiration, and hope.

There may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning. đź’śđź‘‘

A big thank you to Patrick Hamilton for welcoming us in and giving us the opportunity to speak into your amazing students.

And to the Dowagiac community—let’s hear it! What compliments have you given or received today?
Remember, kindness doesn’t need to wear a crown 👑✨
