Every day, Delaware's correctional officers go to work knowing there are people inside our facilities who want to hurt them and they show up anyway to keep our communities safe. They deserve a legislator who has their back, not just their applause.

That's why I'm honored to have earned the endorsement of the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware (COAD) in my campaign for re-election to the State Senate.

As Vice-Chair of the Senate Corrections & Public Safety Committee, I've worked directly with correctional officers and their union to turn their concerns into law including Senate Bill 32, which protects the personal information of correctional and probation officers from public disclosure so they and their families aren't put at risk for doing their jobs.

Correctional officers face threats most of us never have to think about. They need real support, real protections, and a partner in Dover who will keep showing up for them. I'm grateful for COAD's trust, and I'll keep earning it every day.

Thank you to the men and women of COAD for the work you do and for standing with our campaign.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! Celebrating 250 Years of America 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate 250 years of the ideals that have shaped our nation—freedom, courage, sacrifice, and service.

As correctional officers, we understand that protecting our communities doesn’t always happen where the public can see it. Every day, correctional professionals stand the line inside our institutions, maintaining safety, security, and order while making countless personal sacrifices alongside our families.

This Independence Day, we honor the generations of Americans who fought to secure our freedom, and we recognize those who continue to protect it through service to others.

To every correctional officer across Delaware and throughout the nation—thank you for your professionalism, resilience, and unwavering commitment. Your work often goes unnoticed, but its impact is felt every day.

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, let us remember that freedom has always required ordinary people willing to do extraordinary things.

From all of us at the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware (COAD), we wish you and your families a safe, happy, and meaningful Fourth of July.

Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, mentors, and father figures who lead with strength, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.

For many in the correctional profession, fatherhood means balancing long shifts, missed holidays, mandatory overtime, and the weight of serving others—while still showing up for the people who matter most at home.

To all the dads of the correctional community: thank you for your commitment, your resilience, and the example you set every day.

From all of us at the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware, we wish you a Happy Father’s Day.

Public safety doesn’t stop at prison walls—it extends into every community we serve. COAD stands alongside Senator Blunt Rochester in supporting efforts to close stablecoin loopholes that can be exploited by bad actors. Strong AML, BSA, and KYC protections help safeguard our communities, strengthen accountability, and support the safety of those we’re sworn to protect.

Protecting our communities means staying ahead of emerging threats.

Today we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is more than a holiday—it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and honor for those who never made it home. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness continue to inspire us every day.

The Correctional Officers Association of Delaware proudly stands with all who remember and honor our fallen heroes. May we never forget the price of freedom and the families who continue to carry that sacrifice.

We remember. We honor. We are forever grateful. 🇺🇸

COAD stands firmly behind the mental health and wellness of the men and women who work behind the walls. Today, we proudly submitted our letter of support for the Blake Schwarz Su***de Prevention Act — legislation aimed at creating meaningful pathways for correctional professionals to access mental health resources, reduce stigma, and strengthen su***de prevention efforts.

Correctional officers face trauma, stress, and emotional burdens that often go unseen. Too many suffer in silence. Too many families have experienced unimaginable loss. This legislation represents more than policy — it represents recognition that correctional professionals deserve support, protection, and access to care without fear or stigma.

The profession teaches us strength, resilience, and service. But strength should never mean suffering alone.

COAD will continue advocating for resources, peer support, and initiatives that protect those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

Because taking care of our officers means taking care of our communities.

Today, we honor the women behind the badge and the women who wear it.

To the mothers of correctional officers — thank you for the strength, sacrifice, and unwavering support you give every single day. Your love helps carry our officers through some of the toughest moments imaginable.

To the mother correctional officers working long shifts, missing holidays, and still showing up for your families with love and resilience — you are the definition of strength.

And to the spouses of correctional officers who are also mothers — thank you for holding families together during the stress, overtime, exhaustion, and uncertainty that this profession often brings. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

Today, we celebrate all of you. Your compassion, courage, and dedication are the foundation of our families, our institutions, and our communities.

Happy Mother’s Day from the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware. 💙
