On Sunday, September 28, 2025, Dan Dermer, Vince Robinson and Fernando Rivera went to Picatinny Homeland Defense Technology Center. While there they prepared hamburgers and hot dogs for the officers and cadets of the Travis Manion Battalion of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. The Battalion was conducting their weekend drill and the three New Jersey Council Officers cooked and served lunch during their "Cadet Olympics." ✨After Lunch, Vice President of Military Affairs and US Coast Guard Academy Admissions Partner Fernando Rivera, gave the cadets a brief overview of the US Coast Guard Academy, its programs and the requirements to gain admissions. Several cadets expressed a desire to attend the US Coast Guard Academy upon High School graduation. 🌟Upon the conclusion of Fernando's presentation Council President Daniel Dermer discussed the New Jersey Council-Navy League of the US traditions, goals and purpose. He introduced the concept of what a "unit adoption" means and stated the intentions of the Travis Manion Battalion and the New Jersey Council-Navy League of the US to link together and be mutually supportive of each others organization. Dan and Manda Perrone, the Battalion's Commanding Officer then officially signed a formal adoption certificate.
