We understand that we can’t always be the first ones there to help. Sometimes we won’t have what someone needs. Sometimes we may not be able to help at all.

But when we can, we DO.

And the truth is, there are always going to be holes to fill.

So we decided to create a Community Needs and Availability Board.

Need clothes for your kids? Post it.

Need school supplies? Post it.

Need a ride somewhere? Furniture? Household items? Help getting something moved? Winter gear? A set of tools? Someone who knows how to fix something?

Post it.

Seriously. List ANYTHING you could use some help with.

Because you never know who is looking at that board thinking, “I can help with that.”

And this isn’t just a needs board. If you have something to give, a skill you can offer, some extra time, or something sitting around that somebody else could use, tell us that too.

We may not be able to solve every problem ourselves.

But maybe we can help the right people find each other.

That’s what community is supposed to look like.

Need something? Say something.

That kind of continued support means more than putting a logo on a flyer. It means believing in the mission, believing in the people doing the work and believing that local children deserve a community willing to show up for them.

Evergreen helped us build something meaningful last year. This year, they came back to help us make it even bigger. When a sponsor returns, it tells us they saw what this day meant to the kids and families we serve—and decided they wanted to remain part of it.

We do not take that loyalty for granted.

Some thank-yous carry more weight than others.

State Representative Quentin Chapman serves House District 88, representing part of Auburn in Androscoggin County. He is also one of the two largest sponsors behind Kickstands Up 4 Kids in Need. But our gratitude reaches far beyond a name on a flyer.

This work began with a child, a failure we will carry and a promise we made to him.

LD 127 was one step toward keeping that promise. It would have strengthened oversight by allowing the Government Oversight Committee to review protected child-welfare records needed to investigate failures, demand answers and pursue reform—while keeping those records confidential.

On April 29, LD 127 died when the Legislature adjourned.

We will not soften that truth: we failed to get it across the finish line. We failed him.

But our promise did not die with that bill.

We promised him we would never stop pursuing what is right when a child’s safety is at stake. We meant it. We will go back. We will ask again. We will keep demanding transparency, accountability and meaningful change.

Quentin’s support helps us keep that promise moving forward. This event supports We Clothe Kids and puts resources behind helping local children. Thank you, Quentin, for standing behind this day and the mission driving it.
