❤️ HELP US HELP THEM. 🐷🐐🐓

We’ve shared a lot of the fun parts of life at Valentin Family Farm. The animals, the adventures, the muddy boots, and the occasional chaos that comes with caring for a whole lot of personalities!

But there’s another side to farm life that we don’t share nearly as often.

The feed bills. Veterinary care. Fencing repairs. Shelter maintenance. And the countless hours that go into making sure every animal has what they need.

In 2025, we spent approximately $50,000 caring for our farm and animals.

And while we love what we’ve created, we’re realizing something important.

We can’t keep doing it all alone.

Valentin Family Farm is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission that extends beyond caring for animals. We envision a place where animals, education, wellness, and community come together.

But right now, we’re at a crossroads.

Without additional support, we may have to make some difficult decisions about how many animals we can continue to care for.

And that’s heartbreaking, because these aren’t just animals on a farm. They’re part of our family. ❤️

So we’re inviting our community to become part of theirs.

🌻 HELP US HELP THEM.

Whether it’s $5 toward feed, a donation for veterinary care, supplies, volunteer time, or simply sharing our story, every bit of support helps us continue this mission.

And here’s where we could really use YOUR help! ❤️

Even if you’re not in a position to donate, would you consider sharing this post?

Share it with your friends, family, coworkers, local businesses, or anyone who loves animals and believes in giving back.

You never know who might see it. Maybe someone has extra supplies, a few hours to volunteer, a business interested in supporting a local nonprofit, or simply a heart for animals.

Sometimes the most valuable thing you can give is helping us find the people who can help.

We’re not giving up on our dream. We’re just realizing that maybe it was never meant to be something we built alone.

Every donation, every share, and every helping hand makes a difference.

From our family (two-legged, four-legged, feathered, and everything in between) to yours, thank you for being part of our journey. ❤️

I left bedside nursing…or so I thought. 🩺🐾

Sometimes running a nonprofit animal rescue looks an awful lot like working in healthcare.

Medication administration? Check. 💊
Care coordination? Check.
Patient assessments? Check.
Scheduling appointments and managing chronic conditions? Check.
Patients who refuse to cooperate with their treatment plans? DOUBLE CHECK. 😂

Today’s agenda includes organizing Max’s medication regimen and getting Casper to the vet because he’s not feeling well.

The patients may have four legs, fur, feathers, or hooves, but the responsibilities are surprisingly familiar.

And just like nursing, so much of the work happens behind the scenes. The monitoring, the planning, the worrying, the advocating, and the endless little things that keep everyone safe and healthy.

Turns out, I didn’t leave nursing. I just expanded my patient population. ❤️

Just another day at Valentin Family Farm. 🐶🐱🐷🐴

🐓 FARM FRIDAY: Husbandry at its finest. 😂

Every night, Nate reminds me:

“Hey, we need to go get the rogue chickens.”

Because apparently several of our chickens have decided that returning to the coop at night is optional.

And since all of the men in my house are afraid to actually HOLD a chicken… 🙄😂

That means Nate and I head outside after dark to collect chickens.

Into the mud.
Through the tall grass.
Using the flashlights on our phones because we apparently did NOT put my hurricane bin, containing all of our actual flashlights, somewhere we can find it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

All while being eaten alive by mosquitoes and trying not to contract dengue virus. 🦟😂

We find the rogue chickens, carry them back to the coop, check the locks, check the doors, check the walls, and try to figure out what the heck has been trying to get our chickens.

Then we do it again the next night.

And the next.

We are currently on NIGHT FIVE. 😑

Night one I wore Crocs.

Rookie mistake. 😂

I have since upgraded to boots.

The cats have also decided this is a nightly family activity, so now we basically travel around the farm as a phone-flashlight-wielding human-and-feline search party.

The piglets are awake, adorable, and completely unhelpful.

So far, the mystery predator remains unidentified. 🕵🏻‍♀️🐓

But the rogue chickens are safely tucked in, the coop has been inspected approximately 472 times, and if something IS sneaking around Valentin Family Farm at night, it should probably know by now that there’s a woman in boots, armed with an iPhone flashlight and accompanied by an unreasonable number of cats, looking for it.

And tonight?

Nate will remind me that we need to go get the chickens, and we’ll probably be right back out there doing it all over again.

Husbandry at its finest. 😂🐓📱

Happy Farm Friday from Valentin Family Farm. 💜🌻
