The SSG Trey E. Henry Foundation for Veterans and Families

The SSG Trey E. Henry Foundation for Veterans and Families A collective effort to provide the services and opportunities for all veterans and families who are needing/seeking assistance. The SSG Trey E.

Did you know that on average twenty-three Veterans commit su***de every day? This means that almost twice the amount of the ones who gave all in the Iraqi war over its ten year span, commit su***de each year. As a veterans, we cannot sit idle as our brothers and sisters in arms make the ultimate sacrifice by choice. Henry Foundation for Veterans and Families is going to be a nonprofit organization

with the intent of helping any Veteran that seeks our services. Primarily our focus will be mental health and su***de prevention, but we envision an even broader reach of programs to help our Vets in need. This organization is going to be goal oriented, with short term and long term goals. Short term goals being, attaining non-profit organization 501(c)(3) status, establish a central organized location, and try to establish routes for free mental health services from volunteer mental health specialists. The long term goals of this organization are, to acquire a decent amount land on the Buffalo National River, develop and build a Veterans retreat. This would include cabins, access to the Buffalo River, access to water related activies, hiking trails, but what is most important, a clinic with volunteer activities/group discussions, to help with the mental stability of these vets. This retreat will primarily be for Veterans and their families. I believe that with the Buffalo River being semi isolated, something like this would help vets cope with life, by natural therapy. If we show these vets that we care about them, then maybe they will start to care about themselves again. This organization will start out small, but I hope that we can grow it into a national powerhouse. I want to be able to call out to all ailing vets, and get them the help they need for free, wherever they are. Each individual has their own problems, I want to be able to address each problem individually. Thank you for your support.

The number one thing on the agenda this next year of operation, is to be 501(c)3 certified. If anyone would like to donate to this cause, we as an organization, can back date donations to be a tax write off. It's an expensive process to get going, costing somewhere between $500-800. Any help will be appreciated.

It's been a while since anything was posted on this page by me. I'm sorry to all of our followers for not being more in tune with things. As a full time engineering student, a parent, and a part time worker, it's hard for me to find time. I haven't forgot about what this organization is about, or the people it is designed to help. Just remember everyone, that every 65 minutes a Veteran commits su***de. So, next time you see a vet, say something to them. Encourage them to do their best in the world, and offer your support. It could be the thing that changes their heart, and keeps them alive.

Myself and a group of veteran buddies have come up with this idea. If you guys approve please repost.

The idea is each veteran can establish a personal account with which to receive donations by individuals who wish to help.

Advantages are no longer would they have to deal with applications and processes that can be drawn out and at times demoralizing.

Small amounts can be given or just shares to network and reach the greater audience.

Most of all if anybody does donate they will know who the donation is going to and quicker response in the positive effect.

We are most likely not the first ones to think of it but figured it was worth a shot.

This is not to take away from any donations to any of the great organizations already in place, only to allow an additional means of access.

Were just a bunch of veterans trying to do our part. If you don't wish to spread the personal page I have setup as a pilot then at least share the idea as it could possibly help somebody in need.

Thanks for all you do!

Spoke to some friends and we figured this to be a good idea. Instead of borrowing money lets just create a social support idealogy. If every person creates an account then donates $1 or more by the time it gets around who knows the possibilities. Create your own page and I'll donate to yours as w...

Tomorrow...well tomorrow brings a new day, but to some a somber one. Lest we forget those who gave all for what we enjoy today. Let us keep them in our thoughts and prayers, and be thankful for what they have given us. For it takes a true hero to put the needs of others before their own. To give their LIFE, so we can LIVE ours. For those who know a Vet, sometime tomorrow don't just say thank you, or give a hand shake, but reach out and embrace them. It could be a simple hug, a sign of compassion and friendship, that could change the hearts of the downtrodden.

While we have not been publicly active I assure you things are still rolling behind the scenes.

Any questions please feel free to ask.
