This year, the 53rd Annual Puerto Rican Day Festival of Bristol dazzles with flamboyant trees, Puerto Rico's cultural symbol of land and home!

For many of the millions of Boricuas who live outside the Island (the Puerto Rican diaspora), the flamboyant tree is synonymous with nostalgia. Its intense red or orange flowers transform the Island's roads, fields, and squares. It is one of the most common images in the costumbrista painting, poetry, and music of our Puerto Rican people. When Puerto Ricans who live far away see a photo or a painting of a flamboyant tree, they might immediately think of their land, their grandparents, the beaches, and the countryside.

We invite you to share with us—in the shade of a flamboyant tree and within your imagination—the love, passion, and joy for our roots, music, dance, food, and culture.
