We recognized Fentanyl Awareness Day in April by sharing this video. Today, for National Fentanyl Prevention & Awareness Day, we're sharing it again.

Why two awareness days? Because this issue deserves more than one conversation. April's National Fentanyl Awareness Day focuses on increasing public understanding of the dangers of illicit fentanyl and counterfeit pills. August 21's National Fentanyl Prevention & Awareness Day adds an important emphasis: What can we do with that awareness to prevent another loss?

Awareness is where prevention starts. Knowing that counterfeit pills can contain illegally made fentanyl, talking openly with young people about the risks, and only taking medications prescribed to you and obtained from a licensed pharmacy are all ways we can help protect our community.

So yes, you've seen this video from us before. We're sharing it again because the information is still worth knowing, sharing, and talking about. 💙

💙 National Fentanyl Prevention & Awareness Day | August 21 💙

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is involved in the majority of overdose deaths in the United States. What makes it especially dangerous is that it is often mixed into counterfeit pills or other drugs without a person's knowledge. Just 2 milligrams, about the size of a few grains of salt, can be fatal depending on the individual.

The good news is that prevention works.

By having honest conversations, learning the facts, and encouraging healthy choices, we can help protect our families and our community. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, or friend, your voice matters. A single conversation could save a life.

Today, we encourage everyone to:

💙 Learn the facts about fentanyl and counterfeit pills.
💙 Talk openly with the young people in your life.
💙 Never take medication that wasn't prescribed to you or purchased from a licensed pharmacy.
💙 Carry naloxone if you or someone you know may be at risk of an opioid overdose.

Knowledge leads to awareness. Awareness inspires action. And action saves lives.

Together, we can build a safer, healthier Stewart County.

A jam-packed schedule can lead to dangerous drowsiness, no matter a driver’s age or experience level. For new drivers, maintaining full alertness and attentiveness is crucial for developing into a capable driver.

Another great Tennessee State Coalition Meeting in the books! 🧡

Today gave us new statewide data, resources, and plenty of ideas to bring back home to Stewart County. We talked youth substance use trends, va**ng, alcohol, cannabis, prescription drugs, emerging substances like kratom, and ways coalitions can strengthen community involvement and partnerships.

One of our biggest takeaways: effective prevention doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes strong local partnerships AND collaboration at the state level to make sure the work we’re doing in Stewart County is informed, strategic, and connected to what’s happening across Tennessee.

We’re excited to take what we learned today and put it to work through our prevention initiatives, school partnerships, coalition development, and community outreach. 💪

Statewide collaboration. Local action. Healthier communities. 🧡

Just because something is sold over the counter doesn't automatically mean it's safe.
Supplements and other products sold in stores can still carry risks, interact with medications, or have effects consumers may not expect. Kratom is one example: products containing kratom were previously available for purchase in Tennessee, but as of July 1, 2026, Tennessee law prohibits the possession, manufacture, delivery, and sale of kratom.
