Speed Away waited patiently in the pocket with no change to the lead through three-quarters in 1:26. In the stretch, Every Day Dan held off a fierce late charge from Speed Away for his 4th win of the year. Trained by Joe Columbo, the 6-year-old Dover Dan gelding notched his 20th career win. Early leader A Blue Million, who won this event 3 starts ago, authored fractions of 28.2, 58.2 and 1:27 while Speed Away pressed him and gained an advantage at the three-quarters and began to pull away to draw off in the stretch for a four-length score.
