Delaware Standardbred Owners Association The Delaware Standardbred Owners Association (DSOA) is a non-profit organization that helps protect & promote harness racing in the First State!

The DSOA works with management at local racetracks to make sure the needs of the horsemen and horsewomen are met. The group also lobbies for the best legislation, that will benefit our great standardbred industry. If you are a horse person who races at Dover Downs or Harrington Raceway,

HARRINGTON, DE (Harrington Raceway & Casino/ Quenton Egan Photography) – Harrington Raceway’s 80th season of live harness racing concluded Wednesday with a 13-race program.
Breakaway Racing and Yorwollohan Racing’s Speed Away ($9, Corey Callahan) continued his affinity for Harrington Raceway with a 1:55.2 win in the $22,500 Open Trot from post eight. Callahan guided the 8-year-old Father Patrick gelding into contention late off a second-over trip where he charged by favorite Arrowhead Hanover late and scored his 11th win of the year. Bellsforall finished third.
It was a fitting win for Speed Away, on the same night as he was being honored as the Delaware Valley Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association’s horse of the meet for the second straight year. He won 10 of 21 races at the meet and earned nearly $200,000 for trainer Nick Callahan. Over half of his career wins have come over the Harrington half-mile, with many coming from outside posts.
Chuck Crissman Jr. was awarded the leading trainer, two victories ahead of 5-time champ Joe Columbo. Les Givens finished third. Brandon Givens was awarded top driver on Monday, finishing ahead of Corey Callahan and Art Stafford Jr., who rounded out the top three.
The Delaware racing circuit will now shift to Bally’s Dover for the fall/winter season on November 2, while racing will return to Harrington in April (2027).

HARRINGTON, DE (Harrington Raceway & Casino/ Quenton Egan Photography) – Andrew Glassmeyer’s Beca Mitchell ($6.20, Montrell Teague) was a 1:53.4 winner in the $22,500 Mares Open Tuesday at Harrington Raceway.
The 6-year-old Sportswriter mare notched her 5th win of the season off a pocket trip where she was a neck the best over Lofty Treasure and Jett Propelled. Trained by her owner, it was her 22nd career win.
In the 2nd race, John Pyott’s 7-year-old Dream Away mare Miss B Dreamin ($8.60, Mike Cole) broke an 0-for-58 skid with a 1:58.3 maiden win. Cole guided the mare wide in mid-stretch where she was full of pace and surged to the lead for her first career score.
With one night remaining in the meet, the race for leading trainer remains a close one as Chuck Crissman has a 2-win lead over reigning champ Joe Columbo.
Brandon Givens and Art Stafford Jr. each had 3 wins on the card.
The final night of racing for Harrington’s 80th anniversary season is Wednesday (October 21). Post time is 4:30 p.m.

Harrington, DE (Harrington Raceway & Casino/ Quenton Egan Photography) - While the training title remains in doubt, Brandon Givens was awarded the driving crown Monday evening, after clinching the title last week over Art Stafford Jr. and Corey Callahan. Givens (141 wins) won 4 races Monday and over the course of the meet drove many winners for his father, Les Givens and uncle Wayne Givens, who are in the top six in the trainer standings. He was also the regular driver for standout pacer Wehadababyetzaboy, who had 8 wins at the meet and banked approximately $150,000. Friends and family joined Givens in the winner’s circle to celebrate his title.

HARRINGTON, DE (Harrington Raceway & Casino/ Quenton Egan Photography) – George and Tina Dennis Racing’s Back Pocket Miki ($70.20, Mike Cole) was a 1:52.2 winner in the $22,500 Open Pace Monday at Harrington Raceway.
The 6-year-old Always B Miki gelding received a three-hole trip behind long shot Tack Room Chatter, before a powerful first-over kick saw him clear and win by two-lengths. Tack Room Chatter was second with Steven’s Saloon third. It was his 8th win of the year for trainer Joe Columbo, who is just one win behind Chuck Crissman Jr. atop the trainer standings with just two nights remaining in the meet. Columbo and Cole teamed up for a triple on the card for owners George and Tina Dennis.
Two nights of racing remain in Harrington’s 80th anniversary season, with a 15-race card on Tuesday (October 20) and 13-race program Wednesday (October 21).
