We lost our dear sweet Betty Greco last week. She was a Junior Board member since 1978. She was a dedicated volunteer to the Junior Board for 48 years. She laughed easily and was kind. She will be missed.

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean (Jaeske) Greco 7/4/1945 – 2/11/2026

Elizabeth Jean (Jaeske) Greco, 80, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026.

Born on July 4, 1945, Betty was the beloved daughter of Carl E. and Sarah F. (Bremer) Jaeske. She carried their values of kindness, strength, and devotion to family throughout her life.

Having been born on July 4th, she loved having a big birthday celebration with fireworks every year saying that they were just for her, Ms. Firecracker!

Betty was a devoted mother to her two children, Michael J. Greco (Vicki) and Ann E. Devine (Steve). Her greatest joy was her family, and she was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement. Whatever her family was involved in, she was sure to take up that mission and join them in their passion. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren: Stephen (Tonda), Sara, Arthur, Herbie, Michael Jr., and Patrick. “Mom-Mom” was their biggest fan! Always present at soccer games, ball games, swim meets, band concerts and parades as well as faithfully listening to the sports broadcasts from Salisbury University. She also leaves behind several great grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Cochran of Chincoteague, VA; brother in law’s Bill and John Greco of Warminster, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Janet Koch, Robert Jaeske, and Charles Jaeske, her father and mother-in-law, Michael and Katherine Greco.

Betty along with her family are members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover, De.

Betty dedicated 33 years of service to the State of Delaware, working with Kent County Elections until her retirement in September 2018. Her commitment to civic duty reflected her deep belief in community and public service.

Her volunteerism was extraordinary and spanned decades and thousands of hours with different organizations. For over 48 years, “Ms. Betty” faithfully served with the Dover Little League, where she touched countless lives. In recognition of her unwavering dedication, the Field of Dreams Concession Stand was named in her honor in 1995—a lasting tribute to her many years of service. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for 12 years, nurturing leadership and confidence in young girls.

Betty volunteered for over 48 years with Kent General Hospital joining the Jr Board in 1978, offering compassion and comfort to many. She was also an active supporter of Dover High School, volunteering as a band booster and at numerous athletic events.

Betty was also a dedicated Philadelphia Sports fan! She loved watching and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles and the Flyers, celebrating their victories and loyally supporting them through every season. Her family enjoyed the annual Philadelphia Mummer’s Parades. She loved watching the string bands most of all.

She had a deep love for animals and found special happiness in caring for the wildlife around her home. It was a common and comforting sight to see her filling her bird feeders and watching from her favorite chair out her window with delight as birds and squirrels gathered to eat. She regularly fed and provided affection for any cat that walked up her sidewalk. Those quiet moments brought her peace and reflected her gentle, nurturing spirit.

Betty will be remembered for her warmth, her caring heart, and the simple joys she cherished each day. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue in the lives of her family and all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service will be held 11AM February 28th, 2026 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd, Dover, De. A visitation will be held one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to Dover Little League PO Box 1764 Dover, De 19903. The funds will be used to support their scholarship program.
A private burial will be at a later date.
