Earlier in October, members of the Kent County Conservancy Board met on one of the properties we own and manage to review current site conditions. We evaluated water level meters, monitored land health, and discussed future conservation goals.

Regular field visits like this help us make informed decisions to protect natural areas, support wildlife habitats, and maintain the environmental quality of Kent County.🌳🍂

Delaware DNREC will host two public meetings to discuss the Brandywine Trail improvement project, which began construction on February 27, on Wednesday, March 15, at 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. at the Blue Ball Barn in Alapocas Run State Park, Wilmington.

KCC Volunteer Stewardship Dates for January to March 2023

January 30th (Monday) from 10 am to 1 pm
January 31st (Tuesday) from 10 am to 1 pm

February 11th (Saturday) from 10 am to 1 pm
February 12th (Sunday) from 1 pm to 4 pm
February 18th (Saturday) from 10 am to 1 pm
February 19th (Sunday) from 1 pm to 4 pm

March 11th (Saturday) from 9 am to 12 noon
March 19th (Sunday) from 1 pm to 4 pm

These dates are all after the deer gun seasons end on Jan 29th .

Work will focus on control of targeted invasive woody shrubs and vines within management units of the Street Tract. These dates are weather dependent. Details will be provided to all signees prior to the scheduled date. These dates were selected to use best management practices for specific plants.

You will learn identification of plant species and control techniques on the Site. If interested, comment here or, send us a Facebook message!

Yard waste is banned from all Delaware landfills, but it can be recycled and re-used in beneficial ways.
