Capital School District is preparing for its next chapter in leadership.

Dr. Victoir T. Cahoon will retire as Superintendent of Schools, effective November 1, 2026. We thank him for his leadership and dedicated service to our students, staff, and families, and we wish him the very best in retirement.

The Board of Education has appointed Mr. Toriano Giddens as Interim Superintendent. With extensive experience across Capital’s elementary, middle, and high schools, Mr. Giddens will provide continuity in leadership as the Board begins its search for the district’s next Superintendent.

We also welcome Julie Gonzalez as Human Resources Director and Fiah Kwesseu as Chief Financial Officer. Together with our dedicated staff, these leaders will keep our district focused on student success.

A morning of music and community! North Dover Elementary School students had the pleasure of sharing their voices with the Noble's Pond community yesterday morning.

Thank you to our friends at Noble's Pond for welcoming our students and supporting opportunities to connect across generations. We are grateful for your partnership and the joy of bringing our community together through music.

Capital School District is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 Capital Early Childhood peer program.

To be eligible, children must turn 4 years old by August 31, 2026, and reside within the Capital School District.

Families may qualify based on income guidelines, SNAP participation, homelessness status (McKinney-Vento), or placement in foster care or guardianship.

The program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Dover High School’s SFEC classroom. Please note that transportation is not provided, and program times may change.

Stronger families build brighter futures! Join Capital School District for Parent University, a series of sessions offering resources, support, and practical strategies to help families and students succeed.

Our first session, “Structure = Success,” takes place October 13, 2026, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in the Dover Middle School Campus cafeteria. DMSC deans will share positive discipline strategies and tips for building consistent routines to support your child’s success.

Dover High School will be setting off fireworks for every Dover High touchdown, and there will be a grand finale at the end of the game. Fireworks could begin as soon as 7:00 p.m. and will conclude by 10:00 p.m.

Golden Pass holders can bring a guest and enjoy athletics*, concerts, plays, performances, and other designated district activities.
