We’re getting to work! Our first farm workday is this Saturday.

As we continue building Olive’s Branch Healing, we have a lot of work ahead of us as we prepare the farm for what’s next. There’s cleaning, organizing, landscaping, painting, general maintenance, and plenty of other projects that will help us make the property a place where we can continue restoring horses and restoring people.

This Saturday, October 17, we’re getting started, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

You don’t need to be a horse person or have any particular skills to help. Whether you enjoy organizing, working outdoors, using tools, cleaning, or simply lending a hand wherever it’s needed, there’s a place for you.

We’ll have water available, and if you’d like to bring some snacks or something easy to share, you’re welcome to do that too. Whether it’s fruit, granola bars, baked goods, or something else, it would be a nice way to share the day together. There’s no expectation to bring anything. We’re just grateful for people who are willing to show up and help.

You can sign up here to let us know you’re interested, share your availability, and tell us what kinds of things you’d like to help with.

This is also about more than one workday. We want to build an ongoing community of people who can come alongside us as they’re able. Maybe you can help this Saturday, once a month, with a particular project, or whenever your schedule allows. We want to find ways for people to contribute their time, skills, and resources as we continue moving forward.

We’re grateful for everyone who has already expressed interest in helping, including friends, family, and people from our church community. It means a lot knowing that others want to be part of what we’re building.

We’re trying to be faithful with what God has entrusted to us, and part of that is showing up, doing the work in front of us, and being willing to build something together with the people around us.

If you’d like to join us this Saturday, please fill out the form. And if you can’t make it this weekend, we’d still love to hear from you as we plan future workdays.

We’re getting started, and we’d love to have you be part of it.

“Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. I pray all is well with you. As I stated yesterday we have reached our $2000 goal on Saturday and if you know anything about nonprofits, you know that nonprofits are able to thrive off the donations that you are decide to give no matter how small or how big the donation is. We are appreciative of any support.
Remember that all donations if in the US may be be subject to tax deductions.

There are two things on the docket this morning.

1. Will you consider donating today?

2. We have volunteer workday and you can sign up following the link below. We take into consideration your skills what you desire hopping out with as this is a project, both myself and Destani Langford cannot do on our own. We need your help.

A note from Emmanuel

“Good morning, good afternoon and good evening. I want to thank everyone that has given towards our goal of $2000. It is much appreciated. What I’m learning, do not grumble.

We stayed at the facility last night after spending the day vacuuming and swiffering the linoleum floored first floor of the apartments connected to the new facility Olive's Branch Healing moved our horses to.

For me it was a little daunting because of how separated we are from neighbors and how quiet it was, apart from the turbulent adjustment it has been for our dog with Destani Langford getting up at least 3 times to let our dog out.

I’ve been thinking about the Israelites in Numbers 14. The ones that didn’t go to the promised land.

“And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness! Why is the LORD bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become a prey. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And they said to one another, “Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I’ve realized how comfort or keeping things predictable is something I idolize so in my heart, I’m an Israelite at times. Control is revealed as an idol too when life is uncertain.

I’ve also I don’t want to ultimately be them, I don’t want to be a part of a wicked nation.

God makes a somewhat lengthy claim after going back and forth with Aaron and Moses

““How long shall this wicked congregation grumble against me? I have heard the grumblings of the people of Israel, which they grumble against me. Say to them, ‘As I live, declares the LORD, what you have said in my hearing I will do to you: your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and of all your number, listed in the census from twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against me, not one shall come into the land where I swore that I would make you dwell, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun. But your little ones, who you said would become a prey, I will bring in, and they shall know the land that you have rejected. But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall be shepherds in the wilderness forty years and shall suffer for your faithlessness, until the last of your dead bodies lies in the wilderness. According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, a year for each day, you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you shall know my displeasure.’ I, the LORD, have spoken. Surely this will I do to all this wicked congregation who are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall come to a full end, and there they shall die.”” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14‬:‭27‬-‭35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The thing is the new facility is “promised land” on some sense for us. People, animals and business. I need to stop grumbling. Things are unfamiliar for us but we have goal, restoring horses and restoring people.

Will you donate today to that goal of restoring horses and restoring people?

For the first time ever OBH has access to its own arena with footing! Our neighbors Alyssa from Face Up Training & C**t Starting and her hubby Mike were kind enough to swing over to drag the arena and move our spreader down the barn aisle. Just look at the transformation! Still more work to do but we are so proud of all of the progress that’s been made so far 🥰 thanks everyone who has helped make this possible!

Special Announcement 🐴💞

Many of you already know that we moved into our new farm last Thursday. Turns out not only do we have a new location that will house our herd, small animals, ourselves, and boarders/training horses - we also welcomed a new member to the herd.

Meet Ansel, formerly known as Nova. Ansel was already onsite at the farm and didn’t have a place lined up for her to go to. Her previous owners rescued her from a neglect situation and when they made their move out of state they could not bring her along.

This was hard for us because we currently are not in a place to rescue more horses on our own. I shared my concern with Kaylynn who is a working student of ours and what was our burden, suddenly was able to be shared with someone else. Kaylynn felt very connected with Ansel and wanted to know how she could help. She is now leasing Ansel to build a partnership with her, support her needs, and to gain experience/practice with horse rescue and ownership.

One of the major things we needed to address with her was her hooves. They were overgrown and cracked (see photos - believe it or not they were worse than this when she was picked up by her previous owners). Today, she saw the farrier and we were so impressed with her behavior. She stood so well, even with some tenderness in her hock (previous injury). We now have a plan in place for her to get her hooves, body condition, and overall training back on track.

We want to say a special congratulations and thank you to Kaylynn for joining us in the work of restoring horses and restoring people. Because of her partnership, we were able to help a horse that was in need.

Do you have a heart to rescue? Always wanted to own a horse? Don’t know where to start? Reach out to us so we can you get started on your journey. Sharing the costs of having horses will always be cheaper than if you were to do it on your own. Not only that, but doing it in community can provide the support you need so that you don’t have to figure it out all on your own. When we support them together we can do so much more!

P.S. be on the lookout for some special horse sponsorship and horse training apprenticeship opportunities in the future!

Have an awesome weekend!

“Happy Friday and good morning, good afternoon, good evening to everyone. We are still currently $1495 raised out of our goal of $2000. The goal was to reach $2000 by today. We are currently $505 short of our goal.

The nonprofit grind is different than the for profit. Expectations are different for myself and everyone connected. I am doing a little bit of forecasting and I think that the nonprofit fundraising efforts never stop because there’s always need.

Will you donate today and reaching our goal of $2000 raised by today?
OBH is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations and giving maybe considered tax deductions.

A note from Emmanuel Eshun

“Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Joy does come in the morning. As of this morning, we have raised $1495 out of our $2000 goal by this Friday.

I do think that joy can come at another times during the day however, after some rest and wrestling, I come to my senses about whatever I’m thinking about.

Romans 12:2 is a look into neurologically how our brains work. I believe my ways have been conformed the ways of this world, world meaning my typical whoa is me, I’m in a wheelchair, I have MS, worry walks beside me everyday and nothing I planned for my life is ever gonna work out. The transformation happens when you do the hard work, sometimes a scary work of renewing your mind and what that looks like is doing renovation in your mind, imagining how things could be as opposed to focusing on what things are.

For me, I look forward to the day that I can walk without assistance. I look forward to the day that Olive's Branch Healing is impacting a generation for the better. There is some cleaning up mentally that I have to undertake for that transformation to continue.

Just a little bit of nerding out for you, the Greek word for transformation metamorphoō is where we get the word metamorphosis and we think about a caterpillar and a butterfly.

The Greek word for renewal, anakainōsis, translates literally to "renovation" or "a complete change for the better”. Another thought is re-imagining aligns with anakainōsis—taking the existing pieces but completely elevating them into a brand-new, better iteration.

I think that when we are fortunate and good things happen to us, this is easy to do. The hard thing is while things aren’t going so well, it seems that renewal will never happen.

This work is hard and asks a lot from us (Destani Langford and I) we believe that it is all worth something. It’s not done in vain.

Will you continue to donate to the transformative work of Olive's Branch Healing in restoring horses and restoring people?

A note from Emmanuel

“Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. I pray all is well with you. We are inching closer and closer to our $2000 mark and as of today we have raised $1095.

The grind of stewarding a nonprofit is slow and uncertain. I am not a person that enjoys uncertainty but here I am. I think that vagueness is used as a means to show us that we idolize control.

Slowness is something my body has relegated me towards. Having MS and being in a wheelchair has forced me to slow down and take into consideration all that I can or really all that I have capacity to.

There are two things that are front of mind. The fundraising to meet our goal of $2000 by Friday and we have a work day and we are looking to have Saturdays starting this Saturday up until early November

Are you be willing to donate?

So surreal 🙏🏾 …

“Let those who fear the LORD say, “His mercy is everlasting.”

¶From my distress I called upon the LORD; The LORD answered me and put me in an open space.

The LORD is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me? The LORD is for me among those who help me; Therefore I will look with satisfaction on those who hate me.

It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in people. It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in noblemen.”
