Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States dedicated to honoring and mourning the military personnel who died while serving in the Armed Forces. Observed annually on the last Monday of May, it differs from Veterans Day, which celebrates all living U.S. military veterans.

Love, respect and honor to those who did not make it home. We will never forget you.

📣 Volunteer Opportunity – Fundraiser / Grant Writer Needed 📣

Nanoq Guide Services and Survival Training is currently looking for a dedicated volunteer to help support our growing mission.

We are seeking someone with experience in:
• Fundraising
• Identifying grant opportunities
• Grant writing and applications
• Ongoing donor or sponsorship support

As a small nonprofit organization, our schedules are often stretched thin, and we need someone passionate about helping us continue building programs and opportunities for the communities we serve.

At this time, this is a volunteer position, as we simply do not yet have the funding to support paid staff. However, our long-term goal is to grow into a sustainable organization that can provide meaningful employment and fair living wages to those helping move our mission forward.

If you have experience in fundraising or grant writing and would like to volunteer your time and skills to help us grow, we would love to hear from you.

Please send us your resume and let’s start a conversation!
[email protected]

Too busy but have a network of people that might be interested? Please share in your Networks but emphasize this is a volunteer position.

Maine Guide Education Fund Seeking Campers!

Students and families seeking financial assistance to attend outdoor and educational summer camps in Maine are encouraged to submit an appeal letter to the Maine Guide Education Fund.

Appeal letters should briefly explain the student’s interest in attending camp, the impact the experience would have on them, and any financial circumstances that make assistance necessary.

We encourage students to share their personal goals, passions for the outdoors, and how the opportunity would help them grow.

Our family was happy to drive all the way to one of our favorite areas to enjoy the Downeast Salmon Federation and Pleasant River Fish & Game Conservation Association annual Smelt Fry!

Delicious smoked smelt, alewives and mackerel. Kids ate it up!

Always get out there and try something new. This helps connect us to our past - as food often can.

Great event, great weather, great groups running it!

Now onto more adventures today!

PS: ignore the kid frowning. She thinks its funny apparently but she ate the most out of anyone in our group. Ha!

Hey Everyone,

Winter is coming to an end! Warmer weather is on the way. A few updates.

We are looking at moving our annual week long bushcraft class to June, instead of August. We hope for better weather and more access from students with the calendar change.

Due to schedules and staff limitation, we can not attend the Eastern Maine Sportsmen's Show this year. We were heartbroken to make the decision since we love the event and seeing our freinds. Hopefully we can hit it hard next year! Please attend and support them this year.

Joel is working on developing some new opportunities but each staff/volunteer has to figure out work schedules, vacation time, travel etc. So please be patient with us as we keep working to grow and offer new opportunities for our supporters. Keep your eyes open as we post these new setups.

Please feel free to give us feedback on schedules that work best, items you want to learn etc.
