Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It is a day set aside to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. It is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made not only by those who wore the uniform, but also by the families who continue to carry their memory and legacy.

Today, we pause in gratitude and remembrance for the heroes who never came home and for the loved ones whose strength and sacrifice continue long after the service ends. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

❤️🤍💙 Remember. Honor. Never Forget.

Several volunteers with Friends of the Fallen were honored to attend an incredible evening at Dover Air Force Base featuring the Lt. Dan Band with Gary Sinise. What an amazing experience to witness such a meaningful event dedicated to the military families who sacrifice so much in service to our nation.

The Gary Sinise Foundation continues to make a tremendous impact through its unwavering support of our military, veterans, first responders, and their families. We are grateful for organizations that share in the mission of honoring service and sacrifice.

One of the highlights of the evening was our FOF Board President having the opportunity to present Gary Sinise with a Friends of the Fallen challenge coin — a special moment representing our appreciation and respect for all that he and his foundation do for those who have given so much.

Thank you to everyone who made this memorable evening possible. 🇺🇸❤️

Today, we honor the strength, love, sacrifice, and unwavering support of mothers everywhere — especially the incredible mothers connected to our military community.

To the mothers who serve, the mothers who wait, the mothers who hold families together through deployments, uncertainty, and sacrifice, and the mothers who carry the memory of a fallen hero in their hearts each and every day — we see you, we honor you, and we thank you.

We also want to recognize the military moms holding down the home front while their spouse is deployed. The long days, missed milestones, sleepless nights, school events, household responsibilities, and emotional weight often fall on your shoulders alone — yet you continue to show up with strength, grace, and love for your families. Your sacrifice may not always be seen by the world, but it is deeply appreciated and never forgotten.

From all of us at Friends of the Fallen, we wish you a peaceful and love-filled Mother’s Day.

May today remind you how deeply appreciated you are — not just today, but every day. 🇺🇸❤️

May is National Military Appreciation Month. Established by Congress in 1999 to honor, remember, and appreciate all service members, veterans, and their families.

At Friends of the Fallen, this month holds deep meaning.

Every day, we stand alongside the families of our nation’s fallen heroes as they arrive at Dover Air Force Base. We witness the quiet strength, the unimaginable grief, and the enduring love that defines these families. And we are reminded—again and again—that freedom is not free.

National Military Appreciation Month is a time to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women of our Armed Forces—and the families who stand beside them. It’s a time to honor those who continue to serve, those who have served, and those who have given everything.

To our Gold Star families: we see you, we support you, and we are forever committed to walking beside you.

To our service members: thank you for your courage, your dedication, and your selfless service.

And to our volunteers and community: thank you for ensuring that no family walks this journey alone.

We are proud to serve those who have sacrificed so much. ❤️🤍💙

Friends of the Fallen extends our heartfelt thanks to for their incredibly thoughtful donation of a handmade quilt and pillows to the children’s playroom at the Center for Families of the Fallen at Dover Air Force Base.

Sew and Reap consists of volunteers who donate their time, talent, and love creating masterpieces that they generously gift to many organizations, including our own.

These beautiful pieces now have a special place in a space designed just for children—a place to play, rest, and simply be kids, even while navigating the unimaginable loss of a parent. In the hardest moments, comfort matters. The warmth, care, and love stitched into this gift provide reassurance and a quiet reminder that they are surrounded by a community that cares deeply for them.

We are profoundly grateful to Sew and Reap for sharing their time, talent, and hearts to support the children of our fallen heroes. Your generosity brings comfort, peace, and a sense of safety to those who need it most.

Thank you for standing with our families and for helping us care for the youngest members of our fallen heroes’ legacies.
