“Despise not small beginnings “ (Zechariah 4:10).
It is an honor and with great pleasure to announce the 2022-2023 Vickie Sherell Clark “Against All Odds” Scholarship recipient, Matthew Kyle Worthem, a graduate from Rockdale County High School. Matthew Worthem also received the Eagle Scout Rank while maintaining a GPA above 3.0 while completing his Eagle’s Scout Project with the Greenforest Boy Scouts Troop 106, after the Covid-19 pandemic shut down at the beginning of his senior year.
This project which stands tall at Johnson Park in Conyers, Georgia helped earn Matthew his required merit badges and his trip to Washington, DC to receive his signed certificate from the President of the United States of America. What helped Matthew stand out for the scholarship was his tenacity and dedication in answering the essay questions correctly as he explained his journey to “not give up” but fight “against all of the odds” he faced.
We are proud of Matthew and look forward to him successfully starting and finishing his college career at the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media as he majors in Audio Production with Digital Media Technology. Congratulations Matthew Worthem for a job well done and on all your future endeavors!
