As we wrap up another incredible session of Calculated Pathways – Camp Pathways for Kids, my heart is full. Camp was filled with laughter, learning, sensory exploration, new friendships, and countless moments of growth. While there were certainly challenging moments along the way, I am immensely proud of our team and the culture we have built.

At Calculated Pathways, every child, parent, caregiver, and therapist is treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and patience. Our staff understands that supporting neurodivergent children requires more than training—it requires a genuine commitment to meeting each child where they are and honoring who they are.

Recently, a news story has been circulating about an ABA therapist who allegedly kicked a nonverbal autistic child in the face. As a professional who has dedicated my life to serving individuals with disabilities, I find this absolutely heartbreaking and unacceptable. Children—especially those who are vulnerable and unable to fully advocate for themselves—deserve to be protected, respected, and treated with the utmost care.

To anyone considering becoming an RBT or entering a helping profession: if you lack patience, emotional regulation, empathy, or a true passion for supporting others, this is not the field for you. Not at all.

Our children deserve professionals who see their value, celebrate their strengths, and advocate for their well-being every single day.

Thank you to our amazing families for trusting us, and thank you to our dedicated staff for showing up with patience, grace, and heart. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Camp Pathways for Kids in Douglasville is Off to an Amazing Start! - This is Year 4!

The excitement is already building at Calculated Pathways – Camp Pathways for Kids, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Our campers are diving into a summer filled with fun, friendship, learning, and engaging activities designed to support and celebrate neurodivergent children.

🌟 Grateful & Inspired: Year 3 with the City of Douglasville! 🌟
I am incredibly grateful to the **City of Douglasville Parks and Recreation** department for welcoming me back for the **third consecutive year** to facilitate neurodiversity training for their summer camp staff!
As a Certified Diversity Practitioner, I believe this training is absolutely essential. Creating spaces where every child feels seen, understood, and supported is how we build a truly inclusive community.
This year’s session was energetic, highly interactive, and—most importantly—packed with actionable strategies. The staff dive headfirst into learning how to best support their neurodivergent campers, ensuring a safe, fun, and successful summer for everyone.
# # # 📚 What We Covered & Why It Matters
Our training focused on equipping staff with real-world skills to navigate diverse sensory and behavioral needs, including:
* **Neurodiversity Awareness:** Shifting the perspective from "managing behavior" to understanding diverse processing styles.
* **Proactive Inclusion Strategies:** Practical tools to adapt activities so every camper can participate fully.
* **De-Escalation & Support:** Compassionate, effective techniques to support campers experiencing sensory overload or distress.
# # # 🚀 Bring This Training to Your Organization!
Inclusivity isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a practice. If your organization, camp, or business is ready to elevate its inclusive practices and equip your team with the tools they need to support neurodivergent individuals, we would love to partner with you.
Let’s work together to create spaces **where pathways to inclusivity begin.**
