💙💚 Can a parent be paid to care for their child with a disability in Georgia?

In some cases, yes. Programs such as GAPP and NOW/COMP Waivers may allow eligible parents or family members to be paid caregivers.

📌 Important: If your child’s only diagnosis is autism, they may not automatically qualify. Eligibility is based on factors such as medical needs, functional support needs, Medicaid eligibility, and the level of care required.

We are NOT a GAPP provider, but please check out our graphic for caregiver payment options.

This past Tuesday, I had the honor of facilitating two engaging and interactive “Cultivating Christ-Centered Inclusion” workshops for K-12 teachers and principals at the South Atlantic Conference Teachers’ Convention in Orangeburg, SC.

What an incredible opportunity to equip educators with practical strategies for creating classrooms where every student feels seen, valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Throughout our sessions, we explored topics including:
- Building Christ-centered classrooms where every student belongs
- Understanding behavior as communication
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
- Trauma-informed and relationship-centered practices
- Practical accommodations for students with diverse learning and support needs
- Creating classroom environments that foster belonging, engagement, and success

As both a disability advocate and the parent of a son with autism and Coffin-Siris Syndrome, this work is deeply personal to me. I know firsthand that inclusion is more than providing accommodations—it’s about cultivating environments where every child is recognized as being created in the image of God and given the opportunity to learn, grow, and flourish.

One of my greatest passions is helping educators, faith-based organizations, businesses, and community leaders move beyond awareness to meaningful action. When people are equipped with practical tools and a deeper understanding, they become catalysts for lasting change—and that transforms lives.

Thank you to the South Atlantic Conference Office of Education for the opportunity to invest in your dedicated educators. Your commitment to creating Christ-centered learning environments where every student belongs is inspiring, and I look forward to seeing the impact these conversations will have in classrooms across your schools.

Woot, Woot!
Today marks the beginning of Jeremiah’s senior year of high school. 💙🎓

My journey as a parent of graduating seniors began back in 2007, and here I am, 19 years later, watching my youngest begin his final year of high school. What an incredible blessing.

This journey has looked very different.

Raising a child with Coffin-Siris Syndrome and autism has meant navigating medical complexities, educational challenges, therapies, surgeries, countless appointments, and moments when the path ahead seemed uncertain. There have been victories worth celebrating, obstacles that tested every ounce of faith, and lessons that have forever changed who I am.

Jeremiah has stretched me in ways I never imagined. But through this journey, God revealed my purpose.

Because of Jeremiah, I discovered my calling to walk alongside other families navigating similar paths. He inspired the work I do through as Founder/CEO of Calculated Pathways, Inc. —educating faith-based organizations, schools, businesses, and communities about the importance of inclusion, belonging, and ensuring every individual is seen, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Jeremiah, as you begin your senior year, know that your entire village is cheering you on. We pray that God directs your every step, gives you courage for every challenge, and continues to remind you that you were wonderfully made for a purpose.

Thank you to every family member, friend, educator, therapist, physician, church member, and supporter who has encouraged us, prayed for us, and walked beside us over the years. We could not have done this journey alone, and we are forever grateful.

Now let’s make this senior year unforgettable!

Class of 2027… we’re coming for you! 🎉🎓 And trust me—we’re already planning the biggest graduation celebration ever!
