As we wrap up another incredible session of Calculated Pathways – Camp Pathways for Kids, my heart is full. Camp was filled with laughter, learning, sensory exploration, new friendships, and countless moments of growth. While there were certainly challenging moments along the way, I am immensely proud of our team and the culture we have built.
At Calculated Pathways, every child, parent, caregiver, and therapist is treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and patience. Our staff understands that supporting neurodivergent children requires more than training—it requires a genuine commitment to meeting each child where they are and honoring who they are.
Recently, a news story has been circulating about an ABA therapist who allegedly kicked a nonverbal autistic child in the face. As a professional who has dedicated my life to serving individuals with disabilities, I find this absolutely heartbreaking and unacceptable. Children—especially those who are vulnerable and unable to fully advocate for themselves—deserve to be protected, respected, and treated with the utmost care.
To anyone considering becoming an RBT or entering a helping profession: if you lack patience, emotional regulation, empathy, or a true passion for supporting others, this is not the field for you. Not at all.
Our children deserve professionals who see their value, celebrate their strengths, and advocate for their well-being every single day.
Thank you to our amazing families for trusting us, and thank you to our dedicated staff for showing up with patience, grace, and heart. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
