Happy New Year!
Looking to get your fill of feasting, fighting, arts, history, historical fashion, and more in the new year? January has a fabulous line up of events to make that happen.
12th Night
January 4th in Athens, GA- The Barony of Bryn Madoc presents a day of fencing, fighting, thrown weapons, dance, live music, and classes. The event will feature two Arts and Sciences competitions — Stella Nova, for those new to entering A&S contests, and Dreamers Moot, a regional A&S event. The Caga Tió de Nadal (candy-filled log) will be returning this year, with a scheduled time slot for children during the day and adults after feast.

Panhandle Skirmishes
January 10-12th in Alford, FL- Find your way to the battlefield for a day of fighting, including rapier and rattan scenarios, as well as combat archery and seige weapons. After the rivalry, stay for the revelry! After the fighting field closes for the evening, there will be a potluck feast.

Wing Dings V
Janury 11th in Pulaski, TN- Classes! Fighting! Rummage Sale! Activities for younglings! Chili for lunch! Probably other things that require exclamation points! Don't miss out!

Menhir
January 18th in Murfreesboro, TN- Head up to Tennessee for a day of classes, combat, merchants, bardic, and the annual Menhir yard sale.

War College & Fighters Collegium
January 24-26th in Atalla, AL- Ready to learn some new tricks to improve your fighting game? If you're into rapier or rattan, this event is for you with a selection of combat oriented classes followed by a Roman themed feast.

Midwinter A&S
February 1st in McDonough, GA- This one is technically not January, but it's certainly close enough to start planning for it. Looking to notably increase the amount of historical performing arts in your life, even if only for one day? This event will feature an assortment, including a Poet Laureate competition, Kathak dancing, and commedia dell’arte, in additional to a regional arts and sciences faire, classes, and salons.

Did your New Year's resolutions include swords, shields, spears, or other related combat equipment? Heavy practices are currently held on Sundays beginning at 2:00 PM at Gold Dust Park in Villa Rica (646 Industrial Blvd, Villa Rica, GA 30180) and rapier practice is held on Thursdays at 6:30pm at Deerlick Park (2105 Mack Rd, Douglasville, GA 30135).
