💥Announcing the 3rd Annual Alchemy Award Mini-Grant Recipient! 🎊

This year, we are honored to present the Bambi Fund’s annual Alchemy Award mini-grant to Walter Cobb - a true force for justice, community care, and transformative action. From overcoming his own re-entry process after incarceration, to now serving the community with deep purpose, Walter embodies what it means to turn lived experience into liberation for others. ⛓️‍💥

As volunteer Director of Outreach & Education at , facilitator with the National Participatory Defense Movement, and an activist and community revolutionary rooted in downtown Phoenix, Walter shows up every day to uplift others and break cycles of harm. 🌇

We’re especially grateful for our partnership with Walter on the Turkey Bowl event this year, where together with we resourced South Phoenix families and showed up with care and celebration over Thanksgiving. 🤝🏽🦃

📚 Currently pursuing his paralegal studies at Phoenix College and seeking an internship in the legal field, Walter’s commitment to justice, community empowerment, and radical care inspires us all.

🎉 Welcome to our new Program Manager from Douglas, AZ, Ana! 🏡 Ana’s journey with us began long before this role. She and her husband, Michael, were members of our very first Hustle House cohort, and she offers both lived experience and a strong professional background serving communities across all of Arizona.

❤️‍🩹 Before transitioning into nonprofit work, Ana spent years working in state government, where she witnessed firsthand how many systems are structured in ways that make it incredibly difficult for people to succeed. That experience pushed her toward work grounded in dignity, flexibility, and responsive community care.

🫶🏽 From supporting individuals experiencing houselessness to helping families navigate complex barriers, Ana has dedicated her career to ensuring people feel seen, supported, and equipped to grow.

Their work uplifts QTIBIPOC, disabled, and marginalized community members through healing arts, peer support, and culturally rooted midwifery care. From grief and identity processing through art to monthly ancestral gatherings, their programs create pathways for belonging, dignity, and liberation.

🏡 Our 2025 Hustle House cohort kicked off in August, and getting to know Oscar, Tony, Moses, and Benny has been the highlight of our year. Each of them is a devoted father working to build a safer, more stable future for their family, and we’re honored to walk alongside them.

🚗 With two cohort members in Pima County and two in Maricopa, we’ve been alternating workshop locations and providing gas stipends so everyone can show up fully. We’ve completed five internal workshops covering business basics, political education, and healing, and we’ve now moved into partner-led sessions on taxes, insurance, and other key skills. 📚

Next, we begin our 1:1 planning phase: developing branding and marketing materials, mapping budgets, and investing in equipment, insurance, and essential needs so our members can enter the new year strong. 💼✨

What grounds our work is the relationships. Many of our members grew up without support or safety nets. For some, the Hustle House is the first time they’ve been offered free resources, guidance, and investment with no strings attached. The impact is both practical and deeply emotional, shaping not just their businesses, but their trust and belief in community. 🤝
