🐾 Tobey is still waiting…

Not a single inquiry.

Today was Tobey’s turn to escape the shelter for a little while and hit the trails. Sitting by the water, soaking up the sunshine, and exploring new sights and smells reminded us just how much this sweet boy deserves a family of his own.

Tobey was born on 11/28/25 and is a happy, playful hound mix with a gentle personality. He loves being with people, enjoys adventures, and is always ready to make new memories. But when the hike is over, he still has to come back to his kennel and wait.

We know his perfect family is out there somewhere. Maybe they just haven’t seen him yet.

🐾 We’re Hiring! 🐾

Dog Orphans Humane Society is looking for a weekend kennel employee to join our team!

Unfortunately, the person we recently hired for this position is unable to continue , so we are once again looking for someone dependable, experienced, and committed to our mission.

📅 Schedule:
• Saturday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Sunday: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

⚠️ THIS IS A YEAR-ROUND POSITION ⚠️

📍 Requirements:
• 18+ years old
• Prior kennel experience required
• Reliable transportation
• Must be available every weekend

This is a hands-on role caring for our dogs and helping keep our shelter running smoothly. Duties include cleaning kennels, feeding, medicating when needed, exercising dogs, learning our adoption process, conducting meet-and-greets with potential adopters, and helping send dogs home with their new families.

Rhodes is struggling.

Shelter life just isn’t for him. The constant noise, the kennels, the routine—it has him stressed, anxious, and pacing. But today, one of our volunteers took him out for a little nature hike and a dip in the water, and for a while, Rhodes could just be a dog again.

He was happy. Relaxed. He could finally breathe.

We know finding a home for a tripod dog can be difficult. Finding one for a tripod who would do best as the only pet can be even harder. But Rhodes is worth it.

This handsome brindle boy has so much love to give. He deserves a soft couch, peaceful walks, and a family of his own—not another day of waiting in a kennel.

The days keep passing by, but we haven’t given up on Rhodes. We hope you’ll stop by to meet him. Maybe the home he’s been waiting for is yours.

Meet Maybell 🐾
Born 3/5/26 | Lab Mix | 26 lbs

Maybell’s story began in Georgia, where she was found and surrendered to one of our rescue partners. Now safe and ready for her next chapter, this sweet girl is looking for a family to call her own.

Maybell is the perfect mix of playful puppy and gentle companion. She has a sweet, submissive personality and loves spending time with people and other dogs. Curious about the world around her, she’s eager to learn, explore, and experience all the adventures puppyhood has to offer.

With her loving nature and easygoing temperament, Maybell is ready to bring plenty of joy, laughter, and puppy kisses to her future family

🐾 Meet Noodle 🐾

📍 2 Years Old | Female Doodle | 40 lbs

Noodle’s journey to safety is one of resilience and hope. For an estimated 6–8 months, she survived on her own in South Carolina, roaming the streets before finally being safely trapped and brought into rescue.

When Noodle first arrived, she was terrified. Every noise startled her, and human touch was something she didn’t yet understand. The world had not always been kind to her, and the fear in her eyes told that story.

Thanks to a patient foster home, Noodle has blossomed into a completely different dog. She discovered that treats are amazing, belly rubs feel wonderful, and toys are meant to be chased and enjoyed. With the help of her foster brother, Rusty, she learned how to play, run, and simply be a happy dog.

Today, Noodle loves carrying toys around the house, playing with other dogs, and soaking up affection—especially ear scratches. She is doing wonderfully with house training and thrives when kept on a consistent schedule. She’s also quite clever and can reach countertops when standing on her back legs, so adopters should be prepared for her curious nature!

Noodle will need a patient family willing to continue building her confidence, but the reward is a sweet, loving companion who is learning every day that people can be trusted.

Her foster mom says it best: “I know you will fall in love with her just like I did.”

Emma is a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd looking for a new home.

Emma is an incredibly smart, well-trained girl who loves her people. She is off-leash trained, eager to please, and enjoys being part of the family. She can be cautious around men at first but warms up once she gets to know them.

Unfortunately, Emma recently had a serious incident involving a small dog in her home. Because of this, her family feels she can no longer safely live with small dogs. They are seeking a home where she can be the only pet. Due to her history, a home without small children is also recommended.

This is a heartbreaking decision for her family, who love her very much and want to find the safest and most appropriate placement for her.
