September is National Recovery Month.

There are people in Douglas in recovery right now who you would never guess, because most of them don't talk about it. Part of the reason is how we talk about addiction. Calling someone an addict tells them who they are instead of what they are going through, and that keeps people quiet longer than they need to be.

If you or someone in your family is looking for help, send us a message and we can point you in the right direction.

Psychosis often shows up for the first time in the teen and young adult years, and the early signs can be easy to miss. Things like pulling away from friends, trouble telling what's real, or thoughts that feel scrambled can all be part of it.

Catching it early makes a real difference in recovery. If something feels off for you or someone you care about, learning the symptoms is a good first step. Help is available and no one has to go through it alone.

What a day. Friends Across Borders brought both sides of the line together for running, yoga, conversation, art, music, and food.

Thank you to everyone who came out, to our partners who made it happen, and to this community that keeps showing how much we share across the border.

Last week our ABA coalition met in Douglas for another great session. Rachael Rawlings from Cochise County Health and Social Services walked us through the recent trends in overdose fatalities across the county. The data gave us a lot to think about, it’s the exact type of conversation that we need to have to help our coalition grow, and to learn about what’s happening in our community.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and stayed engaged!

Knowing how to respond to an overdose can save a life, and being ready starts with having naloxone on hand. It's now available over the counter, so you don't need a prescription to get it.

Ask your local pharmacy, keep it somewhere you can reach it, and know that one prepared person can make all the difference in an emergency.

Congratulations to the Arizona Drug Demand Reduction and Outreach team on being named the National Guard's Program of the Year.

This recognition is very well deserved; we have seen the work you all do across Arizona. The AZ Drug Demand Reduction Outreach team supports our Douglas and Coolidge coalitions, showing up for the meetings and prevention efforts that keep our communities moving forward, and we're grateful for it.
