🚧 PARDON OUR PROGRESS – October 7, 2026

Here’s what’s happening around Douglas this week:

• Richards Street Sidewalk Project
Crews continue making good progress with underground storm drainage, roadway reconstruction, and preparation for curb, gutter, sidewalks, approaches, and other concrete work.

• WTP Transmission Line Project
The bore beneath Yellowstone Highway has been completed! Crews are now removing the remaining roadway and sidewalk while continuing waterline installation.

🚧 Riverside Park remains closed to vehicle access. The closure may continue until mid-December due to safety concerns related to moving construction equipment and vehicles through the narrow work area.

• Richards Street Bridge – WYDOT
Work continues on the east abutment, including backfilling and installation of the engineered pillow system designed to provide a stable, well-drained foundation and help reduce settlement where the roadway meets the bridge. Crews are also continuing to lift sections of the bridge and reset the bearing system.

🚫 The bridge and pedestrian walkway remain closed. Please use the posted detour via Yellowstone Highway and Brownfield Road and stay outside the construction area until the bridge officially reopens.

• Labonte Road Project
Sewer repairs continue near the manholes, with additional concerns identified through camera inspections of portions of the sewer line installed using pipe bursting. The County, HDR, and Knife River are working together to address these areas and complete roadway replacement as winter approaches.

Camera inspections help verify that underground sewer lines are properly aligned, flowing correctly, and meet City specifications before the work is accepted.

⚠️ SAFETY REMINDER: CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE!

As projects move toward completion, traffic patterns, lane widths, and road surfaces can change from day to day. Please slow down, watch for updated signs and traffic control, and don't assume yesterday's route through a construction area will be the same today.

Thank you for your continued patience as crews and contractors work through the final weeks of the construction season and prepare Douglas' streets and infrastructure for winter. 🚧
