The Baby Butterfly Foundation

The Baby Butterfly Foundation A non-profit organization that was born from the tragedy of losing our daughter to SIDS. Mia's Story:

March 19th, 2012 forever changed our lives.

On that day, our beloved daughter was called home to be with the Lord. Mia Roance was our Baby Butterfly and still is today. God blessed us with her for three beautiful months, and we will be forever grateful for His trust in us. Mia was a perfectly healthy little girl. She was just starting to see colors, and she smiled and giggled when you tickled her nose. Her tickle spot was under her chin, ju

st like her mother. She was put down for a nap on her back in her playpen. She didn't have heavy pajamas on, nor was she wrapped in a blanket. She simply went to sleep and received her angel wings. In the weeks that followed, as our family grieved, we attempted to find resources for SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) families in the state of Georgia. After contacting the Child Fatality Review Board of Georgia, we found out there were none. The SIDS outreach program fell victim to budget cuts almost four years ago. Our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ gave us the strength and peace needed to get through the first few days and weeks of Mia's Angel Day. Even though it's still difficult, that faith gives us the energy to get out of bed in the morning. That faith is also leading us to start this foundation. There are between 150 and 250 families every year in Georgia alone that are affected by SIDS. And as our mission statement says, none of them should have to endure such grief without help. Won't you join with us to bring comfort, peace and strength to these SIDS families? You can read Mia's full story about her passing and the weeks that followed here:

Hey everyone! I see we still have 1.4K followers here and am amazed this still exists! I wanted to pose a question to you. Would you favor (and support) re-birthing the Foundation? It's been a long time, but there's still a tremendous need for SIDS resources in GA and around the country. Let us know your thoughts! 🙂

I have a baby sister named Mia.
She passed away at 3 months.
I have 3 other sisters named Sam Sam, Noni, Catline.
I held her.
I fed her.
She felt heavy but snugglie.
Her head was so soft.
When I see a butterfly I say I Love You Mia!
At her party we released her ballons.
I MISS YOU!

Good morning all! I hope everyone is well. I know that we here at The Baby Butterfly Foundation haven't been very active or visible over the last several months, but I want you to know that we aren't going anywhere! This is difficult for me to share with you, but I feel that it will give you some insight into the reason behind this.

I (Guy) am experiencing something called Delayed Grief. Those of us who have been on the child loss journey for awhile now will understand what this means. For those who don't, I pray that you never have to experience it. To put it basically, it's taken me a little over four years for my grief over Mia's passing to catch up to me. It's really hit me out of nowhere, and it's not something that's easy to go through. That being said, I am taking care of it and will return to some semblance of normalcy soon.

Because there is so much that goes into dealing with this, it's difficult for me to focus on much else...posting here, promoting the foundation, creating awareness, etc. Therefore, I'm seeking help from you, our followers and supporters. If ANYONE would be interested in helping us maintain our social media and web presence on a more consistent basis please shoot me a message or give me a call. My number is posted both on the site and here on our page. I'll discuss what this entails, however, it won't be something that's overwhelming.

Thank you so much for your patience, love, support and prayers that you have given us since our existence. We love you all VERY much and look forward to the days ahead where we'll be back doing what we were created to do.

Blessings,

Guy

A baby dies from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) every two hours in the United States. How do I know this? Because our three-month-old daughter Mia Roance was one of them. She would have turned four last December. I think often about the things that we'll never get to see her do: talk, walk, pla…

ATTENTION ALL OF MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS! As many of you are aware, we're going to be running in a Reebok Spartan Race for SIDS awareness and to honor the babies we've come into contact with who have passed to SIDS. I'm proud to announce that we're now endorsed by Boston Children's Hospital's Miles for Miracles in our fundraising efforts. 100% of ALL donations are tax deductible, and they go DIRECTLY to funding the research of Dr. Hannah Kinney...one of the leading SIDS researchers in the United States! If you can't donate, no worries. You can still help by SHARING THIS LINK! I have over 1,600 friends...that could be a TON of shares!

Our goal is $10,000.00 by race day, March 5th. Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities. Bless you all in advance for your prayers and help! We're STILL making a difference! :D

Friends and family! As you may or may not know, I've put together a team of caring and dedicated people to run the Atlanta Sprint Spartan Race coming up on March 5th. We're doing this to create awareness for SIDS and to honor those babies who are waiting for us in heaven and their families. We'll be writing the names of these babies on our bodies (photo to come) and carrying them with us on the course. We want to give them a voice. To go along with this run, we're campaigning to raise $10,000 to go directly to SIDS research. I'm attaching a link here, and you'll see my teammates doing the same thing. If you feel led, PLEASE click the donate button. However, even if you can't make a donation, share the mess out of it! We'd love to blow up Facebook for this great and worthy cause. Thank you in advance for all your support.
