🚧 Douglas Construction Update – 5/27/26 🚧

β€’ The Richards Street Sidewalk Project is set to begin June 8, with a new sidewalk planned from 5th Street to Mesa Drive. Completion is expected in October.

β€’ South 4th Street crews resumed milling this week after equipment repairs delayed paving. The road is now expected to reopen around June 8, weather permitting. Some lane adjustments and cone zones will continue as final work wraps up.

β€’ North 3rd Street underground utility installation is complete and testing is underway. If approved, service line installation will begin next week. Downtown Utilities crews are pouring alley concrete daily, with work expected to finish early next week. The alley will then need 7 days of curing time before reopening.

β€’ South 3rd Street underground tie-ins are complete and paving is being scheduled. Underground utility work continues on South 2nd Street.

β€’ Center Street will reopen this week at the request of City Council. Please use caution, as businesses will continue using the street for deliveries while alley work is completed.

β€’ North 2nd Street Bridge reopened to traffic last week. Temporary guardrails are in place until permanent rails arrive.

β€’ The Richards Street Bridge Project is scheduled to begin on June 8. The bridge and pedestrian walkway will be closed during construction.

β€’ Labonte Road representatives from the City, County, and contractor will meet on June 8 to review repair plans and long-term solutions.

Thank you for your patience during construction season and for continuing to support local businesses! πŸ’›
