We had so much fun at the Junior Cotillion Sock Hop which we were fortunate to squeeze in on March 7. We are missing seeing everyone at the Grand Spring Ball tonight but the most important thing for us to do as good citizens is to stay home and practice social distancing. The fun will return but what a great time for students to practice "Manners in the Home" from the Cotillion Handbook. Help at home when possible and don't leave any evidence behind. One former cotillion parent shared a wild story about cups growing in her house! Remember to put things where they go and leave no evidence behind!!

The National League of Junior Cotillions, Coffee County Chapter is announcing the postponement of the Spring Ball scheduled for Saturday, March 28, in consideration of the current health crisis in our country. The health and well-being of our students and their families is most important and the Spring Ball requires many activities in which students are in close contact.

Tux rentals should be canceled immediately in order to receive a refund. Parents who have purchased Spring Ball dresses should not be alarmed as we will reschedule when health officials announce the health crisis is under control
Please contact Lou Hennesy at 912-381-2225 or Kellye Hennesy at 381-7031 for assistance.

The Junior Cotillion Six Course Instructional Dinner was held at Hinson Hills on February 22. Students did a beautiful job with their presentations on individuals in history that may have been invited to dinner with the Queen. Their presentations were well-spoken and informative and included: Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Diplomat to the UN Ralph Bunch, First Lady Betty Ford, Astronaut Sally Ride, Amelia Earhart and Florence Nightingale. What a wonderful way to spend an evening in Douglas! So proud of these students!

We had a wonderful time at the February Cotillion class for fifth graders. Paying and receiving compliments was one of the topics for the evening and as I told students the compliments I received certainly lifted my spirits.

In January students practiced table etiquette which included setting the table and proper use of the place setting.

Students are doing a great job improving their dance skills as we prepare for the Grand Spring Ball. It is such a blessing to spend time with these students once a month who get together to attend a class where they practice their very best manners! The great thing about the Junior Cotillion program is that students have fun with friends while learning.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Sock Hop on Saturday, March 7 at 5:30.

Seventh and eighth grade Junior Cotillion students had a great time at Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse Friday night trying new foods and enjoying the meal preparation on the grill at our table. The lesson prior to dinner focused on Japanese etiquette and customs.

We also focused on polite conversation throughout the evening and how important it is to know the appropriate way to share your opinion on topics without insulting or belittling others. We made it a priority to keep our phones off and away for the majority of the evening.

I always enjoy visiting with these students, listening to their opinions on topics in the news and our community and hearing about their many activities.

Students should remember to write their thank you notes. Ms. Cook will be happy to receive her notes on her trip to Texas.

Seventh and eighth grade Junior Cotillion students will meet at 5:00 this afternoon, January 24 at The Pink House. Students have been learning about etiquette and culture from different countries. Tonight we will discuss important etiquette tips to know in Japan when traveling for business or pleasure and how these tips are similar or different to our own culture. . We will continue the lesson by enjoying a delicious meal at the Japanese Steakhouse in Tifton. Please call Mrs. Hennesy for more information.
