Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church
The first German Lutheran Church was erected in 1888. A new church was built in 1915 and dedicated as Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, which still stands today. In the 1960’s, the Douglas congregation merged with another in Waterville, thus closing its doors. The towering church continues to dominate the landscape of the Douglas community. The Douglas Church building remained unused and neglected until it was purchased by the Douglas Community Historical Association in 2006. It first received a fresh coat of paint in 1993. A few years after that it went through a complete restoration and is currently used for weddings, family reunions, and community events.
