There are over a million of deer in Alabama!
And that means LOTS of fawns - your chances of seeing one are fairly high. LEAVE. THEM. ALONE. Just because it's cute doesn't mean it needs you. IT DOESN'T.

* It is normal for fawns to be alone: does leave them alone for much of the time. Even sometimes a whole 24-hour period. Maybe even up against your house. She will NOT return if you are there watching or waiting. LEAVE IT. Do not kidnap fawns!

* It is normal for fawns to be "on the ground." They actually spend their while life there.

* It is okay to put it back if you have already touched/moved the fawn or it has been disturbed by pets. Replace the fawn near where it was found and leave the area. The notion that your scent will keep its mother from caring for it is a myth.

* Take a pic if you must but leave the fawn!

So now for the big reveal... Winnie was at the Double Springs mural! πŸͺΏ

It is absolutely beautiful, which made it an easy choice for Winnie's first stop on her adventure across Winston County!

The next time you're in Double Springs, be sure to stop by and check it out. It would make a wonderful backdrop for photos, and it is a great way to explore our community!

You can find the mural just down the street from the Winston County Courthouse on your way to the Extension Office.
