🇺🇸 VETERANS — WE WANT YOU AT POST 184! 🇺🇸
Are you a veteran who has thought about joining The American Legion? Maybe you've been meaning to join for years. Maybe you used to be a member and haven't renewed. Or maybe nobody has ever personally asked you.
Well, we're asking now!
Garrison-Bonds American Legion Post 184 in Double Springs is looking to GROW OUR LEGION FAMILY, and we'd love to have you become part of it.
And here's something important:
👉 You don't have to attend every meeting.
👉 You don't have to volunteer for every fundraiser.
👉 You don't have to hold an office.
👉 You don't have to add another obligation to your already busy life.
If you want to jump in and help, we'd absolutely love to have you! But simply becoming a member matters too.
Every membership strengthens Post 184 and strengthens The American Legion's voice for veterans.
Whether you're 25 or 95, whether you served for a few years or made the military your career, whether you served overseas or stateside—if you're eligible, there's a place for you in our Legion Family.
And current members, we need your help too. Think about the veterans you know—family, friends, coworkers, neighbors—and ASK THEM TO JOIN.
Sometimes that's all it takes: somebody simply asking.

🇺🇸 A BIG THANK YOU FROM POST 184! 🇺🇸

After having a chance to reflect on yesterday, I just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported our Swamp John's fundraiser!

Whether you bought a plate, helped work, sold tickets, shared our posts, or simply helped spread the word, we truly appreciate you. Every bit of support makes a difference for our Post.

One of the things I was most proud of yesterday wasn't just the money we raised—it was seeing our Scouts, American Legion Auxiliary, and American Legion Post 184 all come together and work side by side.

That's what being a Legion Family is all about. 🇺🇸

It wasn't one group doing the work. We had people of different ages and different parts of our Legion Family pitching in, helping one another, and working toward the same goal.

I believe that's how we continue to make Post 184 stronger—working together as one family and involving our community along the way.

To everyone who worked yesterday, thank you for stepping up.

And to everyone in our community who came out and bought a plate, thank you for continuing to support us. We know you have many places you could spend your hard-earned money, and we don't take your support for granted.

Yesterday showed what can happen when our Scouts, Auxiliary, Legion members, and community come together.

I'm proud of what we accomplished, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish next.

📻 I’d like to hear from our community.

As most of you have probably heard, 105.7 WQAH is shutting down. For a lot of us, that’s more than just losing a radio station. WQAH has been part of our area for years and has given local organizations, businesses, churches, veterans groups, and everyday people a way to get information out to the community.

As Commander of Garrison-Bonds American Legion Post 184 in Double Springs, one of the things I'm thinking about is how we're going to keep getting information out to everyone without WQAH.

We have fundraisers, events, building rentals, veterans programs, and other things happening at the Post, and advertising doesn't do us much good if we're advertising somewhere people aren't actually looking or listening.

So I'm asking you personally: How would you like us to reach you?

Where do you get your local information?

Facebook? Another radio station? Newspaper? Community Facebook groups? Flyers? Text messages? Something completely different?

I'm not looking to guess what people want. I'd rather ask the people we're trying to reach.

So please leave me a comment and tell me what you think. Even if you don't normally comment, I'd appreciate hearing from you on this one.

And if you know somebody who might have a good idea, tag them or share this post. I want to hear as many suggestions as possible.

I also want to say thank you to everyone at 105.7 WQAH who has helped promote our communities and local organizations over the years. Losing a local station like this is going to leave a hole that won't be easy to fill.

But our community still needs to stay connected, and I want to make sure Post 184 does its part.
