Dothan Civitans would like to congratulate our 2026 Wilburn Lane Scholarship winners: Harrison Brown, Northside Methodist Academy; Carson McArdle, Ashford High School; and Ella Cay Helms, Ashford High School. They were all awarded a $1,000 Scholarship to help toward their college tuition.

Dothan Civitans also donated $5,000 to the Heersink Scout Reservation (fka Camp Alaflo). We were joined at our meeting by Andy Coleman, President of Dothan Boy Scout Club, who provided us with information regarding how the funds will be used to help make improvements to the camp dining hall. Thank you, Andy!

Civitan Giving Day Highlights Service And Community

Dothan — Civitan members and supporters are preparing to mark Civitan Giving Day on April 30, a nationwide effort aimed at supporting community service and outreach projects.

The day falls during Civitan Awareness Month, which is observed each April to highlight the organization’s ongoing work and mission. Known for its focus on service and leadership, Civitan has long been involved in efforts that range from building wheelchair ramps to supporting research initiatives that benefit communities across the country.

Organizers say the campaign is designed to bring attention to the impact local volunteers have through hands-on service and fellowship. It also serves as an opportunity for new members to get involved and support projects that directly help those in need.

Civitan leaders encourage community members to take part in the initiative by donating or learning more about local chapters. Contributions made during Civitan Giving Day will go toward continuing service programs and expanding outreach efforts.
