GULF COAST FARM TOURS🍉☀️

The National Watermelon Queen and I made our way to South AL and met with Growers across our region. Our day was filled with networking and getting to know the faces behind our industry. We began by meeting with Mr.Donnie Hendrix with Hendrix Farm Produce, Garrett Williams with Frey Farms, Lee & Amy Fitch along with Matt Barfield with Sweet Mama. After lunch we ended our day by visiting Mr.Todd and Mr.Hudson with Shelley Farms and Veg King, and JD Scott with Scott’s Gladiolus Watermelons. Thank you all for welcoming us with open arms and making this trip so memorable💝

This trip would not have been possible without Mr.Terry Parrish and Mrs.Kendra Kennedy. Thank you to Clifton Seed Company, Mr. Terry and Mrs. Rhonda Parrish, and Kendra Kennedy with Intergro for sponsoring this trip. It truly has filled my cup with endless possibilities.❤️🍉

COMMISSARY ON KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE🇺🇸✨

Today’s highlight was joining the Commissary on Keesler Air Force Base. It was such a delight to hand out samples, help customers pick out the perfect melon, and even guess the weight of the Boxing Champion. There’s no doubt that this could be the biggest watermelon you’ve ever seen!😆

Special thank you to the Military Produce Group and DeCa for hosting and making us feel so welcome! It was such a pleasure to work alongside Mr. Walsh, Mr. Dwight, and the entire team🫶

Thankyou NWPB, Watermelon Board ,for sponsoring and allowing me to share the love of watermelon!🍉❤️

CAMP AWESOME-BILOXI, MS ⭐️

You’ll always have happy campers when watermelon is present! It was such an honor to join Camp Awesome at their Watermelon Extravaganza. We began with a friendly seed spit competition where the farthest seed traveled 14 feet! We then challenged our campers to a watermelon eating competition, with two astounding winners Miss Cami and Mr.Josh. I am so grateful for the opportunity and sharing such an unforgettable experience with all the campers!✨🤗

Mrs.Honey, thank you for your impecable kindness and allowing us to spend time with Camp Awesome. This will truly make a memory of a lifetime. Thankyou NWPB for sponsoring this event and allowing me to share the love of watermelon!🍉🫶

FARM TO CLASSROOM🌱🍉🚜📚

It is always a delight to be double booked! Queen Callie had herself a busy Saturday! Callie was part of The Jones Valley Teaching Center Farm to Classroom Summit. She was able to educate teachers how they can incorporate agriculture, especially watermelon, into their classrooms. She presented about the fundamentals of the watermelon industry, resources available to our educators provided by the National Watermelon Promotion Board, and even played a watermelon trivia game! Lastly, they all enjoyed a slice of watermelon together and made a memory to last a lifetime!🍉

Thank you Alabama Farm to ECE and The National Watermelon Promotion Board for sponsoring this incredible event and allowing us the opportunity to support teachers in the Birmingham area!❤️

CHARLIE’S UPIK-LUCEDALE🥦🍅🌽🥒🍉

Yesterday I ventured my way back to my second home Charlie’s U-Pik Lucedale. Many of you may know but I’ve worked at Charlie’s for 5 years! Today I was able to share my watermelon knowledge and teach our customers how to pick the best watermelon.

Then our president, Mrs.Kendra Kennedy with Intergro, and I made our way to Courtney Farms and visited our association member, Eddie Courtney! It was so good catching up and getting to see what their farm is all about!🍉🚜

Mrs.Kendra, thank you for joining us on this watermelon adventure and I look forward to the ones to come. Thank you to the entire Eubanks family and Mr. Eddie Courtney for your warm welcome and hospitality!🫶

There’s truly no greater joy than sharing a slice of happy!

IFPA WASHINGTON CONFERENCE🇺🇸🍉🌟

Today was a day full of advocacy! We began the morning with Secretary Brook Rollins, United States Secretary of Agriculture, as she shared her upcoming initiatives for specialty crops. We then met with Alabama Senator Katie Britt, Representative Gary Palmer, the office of Senator Tubberville, and the office of Representative Mike Rodgers. We shared our concerns and issues our industry is facing. There is nothing better than being able to advocate for the watermelon industry and bridge the gap between our consumers and producers.

We ended the day with a delicious dinner with the Levine family. Thank you to our association for making this trip possible.🫶
