The Alabama High School Girls Flag Football Tournament kicks off Friday, September 18 in Dothan!

Join us for an exciting Opening Night celebrating the incredible athletes, coaches and teams who are helping grow girls flag football across Alabama. 💪🏈

🎉 Opening Night will feature sponsor activations and special activities as we get ready for a full day of tournament action on Saturday!

🌟 COMMUNITY ADVISORY GROUP SPOTLIGHT: ANITA DAWKINS WEATHERINGTON 🌟

At the Izell Reese Community Center, we’re proud to be surrounded by leaders who are committed to strengthening our community and creating opportunities for others.

Today, we’re highlighting Anita Dawkins Weatherington, an award-winning realtor, entrepreneur, trainer, executive coach and longtime community advocate in the Wiregrass.

As the Qualifying Broker/Owner of Community 1st Real Estate and Property Management LLC, Anita has dedicated her career to helping others achieve their goals. Her commitment to service extends far beyond her professional work, including involvement with civic, service and community organizations throughout the Wiregrass.

Through her leadership, mentorship and dedication to helping others, Anita continues to be a strong voice for the Dothan community.

Community Wellness Matters 💙

Live Health Smart recently hosted a Pop-Up Wellness Clinic for Dothan’s community members at the Izell Reese Community Center!

The free wellness event provided community members with access to:

🩺 Diabetes screenings
❤️ Blood pressure checks
🧪 Cholesterol screenings
⚕️ Obesity screenings
👩‍⚕️ Free consultations with doctors and Wallace Community College nursing students

Community members also had the opportunity to connect with vendors and learn more about resources available to support a healthier community.

A big thank-you to Live Health Smart, Wallace Community College, the nursing students, doctors, vendors, and everyone who came out to support this important event!

🚰🔧 Plumbing Workshop Complete! 🔧🚰

We've officially wrapped up the final session of our Free Homebuilding Workshop Series at the Izell Reese Community Center!

During the Plumbing Workshop, participants gained hands-on experience learning essential residential plumbing skills, including fixture installation, basic plumbing systems, and other practical techniques used in the construction industry. These valuable skills can help open doors to new career opportunities and provide a strong foundation for future success in the skilled trades.

This workshop marks the completion of a series that included carpentry, electrical wiring, and plumbing training—all designed to equip community members with in-demand workforce skills at no cost to participants.

We are grateful to our partners at Wallace Community College and RCX Sports Foundation, as well as our instructors and participants, for making this program a success. Together, we're helping build pathways to careers, strengthen our workforce, and invest in the future of our community.

This FREE event brings together high school girls flag football teams from across Alabama for a weekend of competition, celebration, and unforgettable experiences both on and off the field.
