Charles Maxwell (Max) Fish of Dorset, VT, will present stories, themes, and takeaways drawn from a series of oral history interviews he conducted as a volunteer interviewer for the Library of Congress's Veterans History Project (VHP) with Vermont military veterans. Max will share the veterans' firsthand accounts, reflect on what the interviews revealed about military service, and explain why preserving these narratives matters.
The Veterans History Project was established by Congress in 2000 through the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and make permanently accessible the personal accounts of U.S. military veterans so that future generations can hear directly from those who served. Recorded interviews, photographs, letters, and unpublished memoirs are archived at the Library of Congress and made available to researchers, educators, and the public.
We hope you can join us tomorrow!
