Want to learn what it takes to care for a great trail?

Join Driftless Area Land Conservancy staff for a Trail Maintenance Training & Workday and get hands-on experience with the skills that keep trails safe, sustainable, and enjoyable. You’ll learn practical trail maintenance techniques, including how to address drainage and erosion, manage vegetation, and care for the trail surface, then put those skills to work alongside fellow trail enthusiasts.

No previous trail maintenance experience is needed. Come ready to learn, get your hands dirty, and leave with skills you can use to help care for trails in your own community.

With more than 95% of the Driftless Area in private ownership, protecting this resilient landscape depends on partnership. Through voluntary land protection and permanent easements, each segment of the Driftless Trail becomes part of something bigger: a connected corridor that protects clean water, restores habitat, and ensures this land endures for generations.

Across this landscape, the trail links places that wildlife depend on and creates meaningful opportunities for people to experience and care for the land.

Led by Driftless Area Land Conservancy and made possible by dedicated landowners, volunteers, and supporters, the Driftless Trail reflects a shared commitment to conservation.
