Save The Rainforest, Inc.

Save The Rainforest, Inc. Save The Rainforest is the first nonprofit that, through purposeful travel, inspires students to think creatively about conservation and climate change.

Since 1990,10k students have participated and $500k has been donated for rainforest conservation. Founded by teachers and high school students in Dodgeville, Wisconsin in 1988 with the mission of saving tropical forests, Save The Rainforest was the first-of-its-kind and began by encouraging schools across the US to raise money to purchase rainforest acres. In 1990, Save The Rainforest began an inn

ovative travel program that sent students and educators to the rainforests it was helping to save. Remarkably, with only volunteer staff and a shoestring budget, Save The Rainforest made a tangible impact with over 10,000 students participating in the trips and $500,000 donated for rainforest conservation.

2021 marked a turning point for the organization. Gravely concerned about climate change and the pressures facing our youth, many of whom feel hopelessly unprepared to face such a challenge, Andrea Luecke (a former student founder) offered her considerable talents to guide Save The Rainforest through an exciting relaunch, refreshing its programs and goals as well as engaging students, educators, donors and partners like never before. IT'S NOW OR NEVER. Over the next five years, Save The Rainforest is on an aggressive mission to host 10,000 additional students on life-changing, carbon-neutral rainforest trips. These trips serve as a "Master Class" in rainforest and ocean ecology, conservation, climate entrepreneurialism, culture, and life. There is no better way to prepare and empower our youth for the challenges ahead, then to give them first-hand experiences that will build character and test their courage. We'd love your support. Save The Rainforest, Inc. began in 1988 as a biology class project in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Bruce Calhoun was teaching his biology class about rainforests from his firsthand experiences. The students were surprised to learn about the destruction of the rainforest that Mr. Calhoun shared with them because it was not to be found in their textbooks. They came to realize that students, teachers, the general public, and even textbook publishers were not informed about what was actually happening to rainforests. They decided to do something about it. For their class project, the students created an information packet about tropical rainforests and sent it to every high school science teacher in the United States. They also asked those teachers if they wanted to join a new club called Save The Rainforest and receive additional information. TO THEIR AMAZEMENT, THEY RECEIVED OVER 10,000 POSITIVE REPLIES. A MOVEMENT WAS BORN!!! Save The Rainforest became one of the first groups to:
