Southwest Wisconsin Longbeards Southwest Wisconsin Longbeards is a local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF ) — a national nonprofit organization.

We are a local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF ) — a national nonprofit organization — the leader in upland wildlife habitat conservation in North America. Founded in 1973, the NWTF is headquartered in Edgefield, S.C., and has local chapters in every state and Canada. The NWTF is dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage. Thr

ough vital partnerships with state, federal and provincial wildlife agencies, the NWTF and our members have helped restore wild turkey populations throughout North America — from a mere 30,000 in the entire United States to more than 7 million across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Southwest Wisconsin Longbeards is exited to bring you a special fundraising package at this years banquet, April 24th at Dodger Bowl Lanes & Catering in Dodgeville. The package includes a signed Wisconsin Badgers jersey by football HOF'er Joe Thomas and meat snacks from Hall of Fame Farms The proceeds from this package will help fund our Local Learn to Hunt program, youth trap clubs, 4-h shooting sports and more. Huge shout out to Hall of Fame Farms and Joe Thomas for helping to keep conservation and outdoor sports alive.

Learn to Hunt weekend!

We were proud to introduce new hunters to the traditions, safety, and excitement of turkey hunting. Seeing new hunters learn, gain confidence, and head to the woods is exactly what this program is all about.

A huge thank you to Jonesdale Sportsman’s Club & Vortex Optics for the use of your outstanding facilities for our turkey hunter events.

Our Learn to Turkey Hunt classroom session has officially wrapped up! 🦃

Participants gained valuable knowledge about turkey behavior, habitat, safety, gear, and even had the opportunity to practice shooting. It was a great evening of learning and preparation.

We want to congratulate everyone who joined us as we continue rebuilding our Learn to Hunt program. The excitement is building, and we know our hunters, parents, and mentor volunteers are eager to head to the blinds for our special hunt on April 4th.

A huge thank you to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for co-sponsoring this event and providing an instructor, NWTF-Wisconsin and to Vortex Optics for their continued support of our program and upcoming banquet—as well as for providing an excellent space for learning.

If you or anyone you know age 10 & older is interested in participating next year, please keep this program in mind. Remember, attending the classroom session is a requirement to take part in the hunt.
