The family of Roy O Seybert has requested the American Legion Riders honor their loved one by manning a flag line at the church and cemetery.
ROY O. SEYBERT, 94, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at his home in Meade.
He was born in Alden in 1921.
He married Vashti Painter from rural Meade County in 1942. She survives.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in World War II. After being stationed in several Army bases in the U.S., he was stationed in England, Holland, Belgium, France, and Germany.
He was employed by the Rural Electric Cooperative of Meade and Clark Counties, where he signed farmers and ranchers up for electricity to their properties and helped install the first electric poles and wires throughout the area.
For 37 years, he managed and operated a wheat and cattle business of more than 2000 acres.
After retiring from farming and ranching, the couple started “Aunt Vi’s Kitchen,” a company that made sand hill plum jelly and other condiments from western Kansas produce.
He was an early leader in the soil conservation movement, serving on local and state conservation committees. He also served on the Economic Development Committee for Meade County.
He was a public speaker in his church, in soil conservation, and in churches and schools regarding his war experiences.
Survivors also include four children: Glenn, Ross (Suzan), Charles, (Julie), and Alice (Tom Montemurro); five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Meade.
Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.

Flags – Only one USA flag per bike. One bike will be designated to fly the Army flag in honor of Mr. Seybert's military service.

Following service the bikes will es**rt Mr. Seybert to his final resting place and stand flagline at Graceland Cemetery, Meade, Kansas.
